a) new gui looks great! I especially like how needle now looks on bigger screen, there's something about ballistics and refresh rate which just make it look natural
b) 1.2.9 and 1.3.3 don't null
c) 1.3.3 sound more open and forward
This update rocks!

Seems strange because Andy said he won't update the DSP of The Glue...meloco_go wrote:b) 1.2.9 and 1.3.3 don't null

I think it is because the default OS on 1.2.9 is x1 whilst the one on 1.3.3 its x2 (meloco, how did you compare ?)Endor-8o8 wrote:Seems strange because Andy said he won't update the DSP of The Glue...meloco_go wrote:b) 1.2.9 and 1.3.3 don't null

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

The Glue Beta v1.3.3 (21 Mar 2015)
- Fixed: saved Attack and Release settings now recall correctly
Fixed: double clicking on ring labels of Attack, Ratio, and Release now working again
Andy, is there a keyboard+mouse modifier for fine adjustments? Noticed last night with 1.3.2 that I couldn't get finer control of the output gain than .2 decibels. Kept trying to Ctrl or Shift click to no avail.

Nothing has changed in the core algorithm, you can do a null test and it will be the same within audible limits. I have updated the needle graphics, I made the needle wider and improved the motion blur a little, but the audible results are identical. Having a lovely bouncing needle does help with judgement of the compression behaviour, which is helpful.4damind wrote:Nice, the resizable GUI is great.
Have you also changed something with the compression behaviour? It seems the gainreduction works now more as expected.

Sorry about that, I could have left out the fine movement modifier in the update. It will be easy to add back so thanks for pointing it out, there are loads of little details like this so it's hard to keep track of everything.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:andy-cytomic wrote:News: The Glue Beta v1.3.3 is ready, please email me with any problems - http://cytomic.com/contact

Thanks for using a different plugin ID for this version BTW. Nice to be able to have this version live alongside the legacy version.

Oh, dear, something must have gone wrong with that as well, I didn't change the id! Can you please let me know which host you are using so I can fix it?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:No sweat Andy, that's why we have betas.

Aah, ok the updated needle graphics seems to be the improvement which gives the feeling it works more as expected. Great work Andy. Btw, have you an idea about the release date?andy-cytomic wrote:Nothing has changed in the core algorithm, you can do a null test and it will be the same within audible limits. I don't think it has changed. Some hosts use dll file names as well. For example, REAPER scans plug-ins by their names but if this name changes then it uses the ID to identify. This new version of The Glue has a different name "The Glue 64.dll" while the previous one was "The Glue.dll". If I have both in my folder I can see and use both but if I remove the previous version and load an old project it loads the new version just fine which indicates that it's using the same ID.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Thanks for using a different plugin ID for this version BTW. I'm not sure I want to answer this question now, I like that "feature" and don't want you "fixing" it.andy-cytomic wrote:Oh, dear, something must have gone wrong with that as well, I didn't change the id! Anyway, I'm using Studio One 2.6.5 x64, on Windows 8.1.
Here's what I see:
1. I have two plugins in the browser, one called "The Glue" (this is version 1.2.9, 64-bit VST2 version) the other called "The Glue 64" (version 1.3.2, 64-bit VST2 version)
2. Existing projects using v. 1.2.9 recall the "legacy" version just fine
3. Both plugins are living together happily and are treated as separate plugins
EDIT: I did confirm that CTRL as a mouse modifier for fine parameter adjustments isn't working in the new version.

Makes sense. But if Andy's intention is for the new version to be a replacement, that means he'll probably want to rename the .dll to match the old version. Or force an uninstall of the old version. Frankly, I like having the separate names. Means I can test the new version without worrying about breaking old projects.Mercado_Negro wrote:I don't think it has changed. There's no need to rename the plug-in in this case because it is using the same ID. Both versions can coexist just fine. If you have both dlls in your folder and open an existing project it will load the previous version. If you delete the previous version it will load the new version (settings will be recalled correctly).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Makes sense. I just checked, they null completely here using the default setting and at the same oversampling settings.
