Just tried the demo. I got some really weird volume blowups when I was turning on the pulse mode for oscillator 2. Like, some notes were just going through the roof others not, even though velocity to amp was off. Other than that, it's got a great sound. The filters, the oscillators. Especially when you engage cross-PWM and cut some highs with the filter... very powerful. Promising!

Sad, I was happy to try that odf PWM... :(
It 'PWM button' appears when you select the pulse wave, dissapears when you don't...Same for both Osc's
Yes?? great!!!! :tu:

Dling the demo now!

Hey KVR users

I created an entire "sound only" review of Xils-Lab miniSyn'X. I divided the audio samples in presets categories
Thanks for listening

The bass is lovely. Actually the whole soundset is cool. :tu:

Some nice retro sounds in there as well.

Great one Mr. P Adamz!
Thanks!

I am enjoying working with this synth.
Love those "old school" emulations and Xils-Lab has done it again.

Jean Michel Jarre was an avid user of the Synthex version.
Nice to see a soft synth version available.
JMJ, and also Stevie Wonder, Keith Emmerson etc etc

Thanks MillerSam

Its always a great moment to hear what music people do with presets, bringing them in totally different directions than what you were thinking while designing them. Great ! :tu:

The UI tries to show you only the controls you need at one moment to operate the synth. Another example are the Layer Solo diodes, that only appear when you are in Double Mode, because you dont need them when you are in Single or Split Mode.

Sendy wrote:Can someone explain zero delay feedback PWM to me please?

I can understand 0df filters, because filters need feedback to make resonance. But PWM is a change in duty cycle - it's a matter of timing relative to the period of the wave. Seemingly no feedback there to have zero delay of. I may be completely igonrant of something going on under the hood here, as my knowledge is just as an enduser, and a self-taught one at that.

Either way, I'm going to check this out, as I love PWM, and if this can deliver fresher sounding PWM then I'll be all over it!
Isn't 0dfb commonly used to mean topology-preserving ? Perhaps this is a case of that.
Yes. As I see it : In an analog synthesizer, everything happens, and interacts, instantaneously, and simultaneously. While code is sequential. Pulse Width Cross Modulation, Sync, and filters are some examples of these instantaneous/simultaneous interactive process more/less commonly found on analog synthesizers.

From the MiniSyn'X manual : 'PWM: Pulse Width Cross-Modulation (from the other Oscillator) select button. When ON, the width is controlled by the waveform of the other oscillator. This results in a very rapid change in harmonics, close to the ring modulation effect. If no other wave form are selected, when ON, this button let the oscillator to output a width controlled pulse with the same algorithm than the Synthex. '

As an audible result, afaic : On certain presets, and kind of sounds, the new algorithm makes a great difference.

Did you say there was going to be a Syn'X 2? If so, is there a time line on that?
I think its a matter of weeks

Great one Mr. P Adamz!

I think this one be nice to control from the System-1 :)
When I get home I will buy it right away!
I have a certain number of clips of presets in isolation somewhere on a hd made while I was making some presets. I'll try to recover them.

MillerSam :tu: reviewed some of the presets in the Mini ( see a few posts above ) and there are some minitracks on xils site also.

Thanks Lotuzia ;)
Personally I must say, it would be nice to see more presets in the plugin.
What you can see also in my later video, the plugin is not very light on CPU. Some patches are quite heavy
