I'm using Mulab more as an instrument as just a sequencer.
How many are using Mulab as instrument and want to use it in futur Live setups?

The modular system is nice to create and combine sounds from mux and Vst plugins, but there remains some major problems who are not solved yet to be used live. Handling is sometime tricky.

1) We can have mutiple midi input devices, but they are merge into all 16 midi channels. This is a limitation of controlling different instruments or fx from outside.

2) We can only select 1 output devices for the 16 midi channels . This means , we have to chain external midi intruments, and we have all instruments responding on the same channel number . We cannot send different midi patch to intruments on same midi chanel to setup external instruments with chain so we need more output device we can select from within Mulab.

3) External clock sync is not implanteted. Playing live is not just starting a playback, control should be able from external devices.

4) Global Daw control missing (start stop pause ) mixer slider , mute, on off of modules. Mutiple input device could solve some of these problems. Some externals have lot of buttons and slider who can do better job than the computer keyboard to use the DAW.

5) No midi program implanted to select different mulab instruments from external midi.. Easy solution could by a text config file ( midi prg 1= muxpacht2, midi prg 2= muxpatch-x... etc. )

I think, if lot of user want to use Mulab in Live setup or as intrument,
we can expect these change in near futur, else we have maybe to wait some years.
(Request for midi sync is allready some years old)

Give a answer if you find usefull ,or if you dont want Live aspect of Mulab.

I want to use MuLab for more(*) live work - but not as a performance tool, just as a recorder of both live audio and MIDI and for that it's okay. Not saying the above are not desirable but they aren't the only aspect of "Live Setups".

(*) "More" because I'd like to use it for Ninjam but ReaNinjam in Reaper is still the best (I'd go as far as to say "only usable" but that's possibly extreme ;)) implementation of the Ninjam client.

It is possible to have 16 physical midi inputs. I'm currently using 3 on 2 external devices. When you told Mulab in the Midi Setup about your 16 in and 16 out devices, you can accress them in the Modular Area. (First time you probably need to pull them all from the upper left corner.)

As long as you use notes or midi CC you can control quite a lot (incl. Start/Stop/Rec).
