Pretty sure Urs said this definitely wouldn't happen because it requires oversampling which increases CPU usage. If I'm wrong on that feel free to correct me.psynthetik wrote:FM!!!!!!!!

I'd really like to see a new feature that alters the phase relationship between unison voices, and this would be most effective when phase reset is turned on. "Unison Phase Spread" could be added as a modulation destination, and "Constant" could be used as a source. Modulating "unison phase spread" via envelope or lfo could also open up some cool sonic possibilities unique to Hive, which I don't recall seeing in any other synths.
Right now, setting the phase mode to "reset" and using unision gives a certain "same-ish" quality if you do this often. The feature I described above would be subtle, yet add a new dimension to play around with. More drastic settings using an LFO or envelope would probably work well with special effects or dirtier leads/pads.

I like the vowel filter effect idea.

To reiterate some ideas
1) Osc FM, Hard-Sync (which seems like it will happen!)
2) New Distortion (Diva's Rotary Distortion <3, etc) and Phaser (Vowel, etc) effects. Dimension Expander.
3) Ring-mod
4) Perhaps being able to bus the FX
As for the hexagon, I really like the XY controls, since that would create just the amount of modularity that Hive needs. Anything more would be over-kill
. I believe I said that the "Orb" from Omnisphere can be inspiration and, rather than 4 separate XY squares like in Zebra, they can 'wrap' around themselves in a sphere shape that fits into the hexagon.
If that doesn't work though, there's always the potential to have Macro controls like in Massive or Serum, and put an Oscilloscope inside the Hexagon. In this regard, it would be great to, like in both of them, "see" the modularity color-coded visually. This is something else for the Mod-Matrix as well that I think someone else said too: a little lightsaber or bar that indicates how much change there is. Making things more visual and "dummy-proof' is always a great way to speed things up
.

I'd like to be able to have an arp or sequence playing on one oscillator+sub but not on the other. This way I can design a nice pad with a short sequence playing over it. What would be nicer would be to have separate arp/sequence sections for each osc+sub.

All I want is for Hive to not behave strangely when trying to launch clips/arrangement record in Live. I often have to record Hive's sequencer to audio first, and then arrange/launch these clips. Otherwise things can get totally screwed-up out of sync, or not play at all how it plays when I'm pressing notes on the keyboard. Hive beats to its own drum. I do not experience this problem with other u-he synths.
I think it's a known issue that is being fixed though.
Oh yeah a few other things:
- having the Sequencer's Off / Modulate / Play / Record buttons available to configure and map in Live - would make for an improvement on its already-stellar Push-mapped experience.
- When Chorus is turned on but with zero wetness, having it not affect the sound in any way. This way I can save all patches with all FX turned on with zero wetness by default, so that I can happily tweak away on Push without having to turn to the mouse to toggle FX units on or off. (Chorus with zero wetness widens the stereo image and "softens" the sound ever-so-slightly)

Having installed a lot of free presets I found on KVR and elsewhere, I found myself searching through the preset list for one which I knew the name of but not which package it was in. It would have speeded up the process if I could do a search on part of the preset name.

Ugh, double-post >__<
To reiterate some ideas
1) New features! Osc FM/Cross-Mod, (AM)Sync, Ring-Mod!
2) More effects!
=*especially* Distortion (Diva's Rotary Distortion, Overdrive, valve-amp, Tube, etc) and Phaser ( Vowels Phasers are great for Dubstep!). If there were effects that needed the most attention, it would be these two.
=Enhancer! Hive would certainly benefit from one! An example could be U-he's take on the Dimension Expander (e.g. Massive, Serum). Given the ubiquity of Massive, that definitely helps to capture a modern tone.
More effects in general certainly wouldn't be unwelcome. Being able to sync the Reverb/Delay/perhaps a Step-Flange to follow your playing would make things simpler and more musical.
3) Perhaps being able to bus the FX like in Zebra2.
4) Vocals! whether Vocal waveforms, a formant filter, or Vowel settings in the Phaser (ideally, a mixture or all of them). One option would be something like Bazille's Fractal Resonance. I don't know how well it would work for lush vocals, but it's wonderful for grimy growls that's great for Dubstep.
5) Comb Filter to introduce Physical Modelling!
6) Most important of all, new wave-forms! .
Whether or not the vocal waveforms become a thing, what Hive really needs are Digital waveforms to continue to better capture Dubstep, DnB and the grungier more aggressive styles of EDM.
Personally, although Hive already has a wonderful supersaw, I'd love a fat, aggressive saw that lends itself well to the distinct 'synth-brass' of Hi-NRG styles like Eurobeat and Hyper-Techno.
As for the third Hexagon, I'd love something like Spire's "WtMix" knob/feature. Being able to 'bend' and morph between different waveform, such as morphing a sawtooth into a square-wave or something in between. Alongside new waveforms, this would MASSIVELY expand the amount of tones!
