I agree - nobody should get away with it. But, it isn't really piracy IMO if a user owns the license, although it is a pretty stupid and irresponsible/lazy thing to do (i.e., using the cracked version in a video tutorial).Compyfox wrote:If "normal" users are branded to even talk about Warez - why should the big acts get away with it IMO?!
It's funny how these threads always focus on the artists and the developers, but rarely discuss the real culprits: Team Air et al. and the warez sites. If people are really as outraged about the piracy issue as they pretend to be on forums, you'd see more discussion about ways to shut down/curtail the cracking and distribution of the pirated software. It suggests to me that the issue may have more to do with hatred of the artists than the piracy itself.

Why? because of 2 topics on KVR forum? As cryophonic wrote, it isn't up to any of us anyway, and noone here is harmed. It's on Lennardigital to decide what they're going to do with it.Compyfox wrote:Now this seems to blow up big time. !

This isn't much of a topic. Synths are like 100$, they're rich. Are you saying you look up to them as people?
It was just a caps lock frenzy.

For gear manufactureres, that some star is using their merchandise is free publicity.

So now musicians are responsible for the education of other people's children? Always blame someone else, is that what you were taught to do?FarleyCZ wrote:Don't forget to add Steve Aoki.
Even if I believe their "I do have legit copy somewhere!" explanation, the main problem is that it sets bad example for youngsters. This is a silent, visual piracy approval by successful idols. It's just wrong.

I see your point and I agree, but I also believe in the "it takes a village to raise a child" philosophy. The artists surely know better than to use pirated software in videos that are going to be seen by thousands or millions of impressionable young people and they should be responsible enough to make sure that they're using legit software or, at a minimum, blurring out the ID, which is probably good practice for legit users anyway.T-CM11 wrote:So now musicians are responsible for the education of other people's children? And if those crack users are rich and famous, it's most welcome for a lot of people to jump on the envy driven bandwagon and let lose their inner lynch mob when in other cases they presumably wouldn't care at all..

Agreed-musicians can be weird, but we don't need to be immoral. I'm totally legal, and non-greedy. I just want what my timecard says I earned.

Um, no, it actually it is piracy. Owning a legitimate license of a product does not mean it is legal to go download, install, and use a copy of that product which is licensed to someone else, particularly one that is cracked and licensed to Team AIR. Downloading and using cracked software is illegal, period. I don't care if they bought a hundred licenses, that still doesn't make it legal to use a stolen license. Whether or not the developer cares is another issue entirely, but don't confuse the two. Calling it "stupid" or "lazy" to use a crack when they also own a legitimate license distracts from the truth, which is that using the crack is ILLEGAL.cryophonik wrote: I agree - nobody should get away with it. Yeah, your're right, it is illegal/piracy by definition and I should have written that better. I guess what I meant to convey is that it's not really harming the developer (referring specifically to Lennard) if the artist has indeed purchased the license and he's OK with it (stupidity of using the cracked version aside).deastman wrote:Um, no, it actually it is piracy. In fact Lennar Digital (as dumb as they are) states: 'it's not a problem when you use cracked software', and now it comes: 'as long as you do actually want to promote us and buy the software WHEN you actually DID promote us!'
There is no room for interpretation here. Rich or poor.
Don't tell me that is NOT some arrogant statement. These guys make money way too simple, but that's another topic.
