Pssst… we have ideas for that. I specifically asked Basti not to reduce that space.
Sweet. Hopefully you don't fill that space with more black wires. :clown:

I didn't expect to be very interested in this synth, thinking it would be too limited when compared to Zebra, but holy moly was I wrong. A run through Howard's awesome presets makes me think it will do just about anything. And I'm so impressed with the sound! I've got to wait until tax season is over before I can justify the expense, so thanks for the extension.

My only feedback on the GUI is that the light top to the knobs was much better before, making the setting more distinct and easy to read for my aging eyes.

Thanks for the great work!

My words :-)
But definitely the new GUI looks more usable and serious.

In the presets view, there doesn't appear to be a way to cycle through presets. I'm fairly certain the left/right arrows from the main view were previously visible, but they aren't any more, now you have to click on each preset only or return to the main screen.

When you've clicked a preset to bring it into Hive, you can use the arrow keys on your computer keyboard. It even wraps to the next preset folder.

Edit: I should point out that if you click the virtual piano keyboard the preset list loses focus and the arrow keys no longer move from one preset to another. It would be useful to have the arrows reinstated.

I think there will be Hive Skins that users will create

maybe it's just my laptop screen, but those knobs in the new gui are really dark... i mean, black... kind of... actually, i can barely see any movement when turning them, except for that small blue dot. is this going to be the final design or will there be a way to switch back to the former skin? not really happy with this one, sorry...

Post

plus - not a problem as such, but when you turn ON the effects section the display above says fx grid bypass OFF, and vice versa. doesn't make much sense to me to display two contrary indications simultaneously, which mean the same thing any way... however, this shouldn't be a deal breaker, though ;)

Not too happy about it either, but Urs has stated that the GUI is still work in progress and I'm optimistic that the final GUI will be better.

good to hear, thanks :tu: was just a little confused when i launched the new version - have been using hive since pretty much the beginning of the open beta and didn't expect those kind of changes, at least not in that moment, i guess ;)

@howard - Hive User Guide errata

Howard has done an excellent job creating the Hive User Guide, and I very much look forward to seeing the finished version. In the meantime, I found a couple of spelling errors, as follows:

p28 Reverb, "hangers" => "hangars"
p32 Compressor, "coomon" => "common"

Here's a way to get around that: Place the EQ module _above_ the distortion in the FX chain, and cut the lows with the EQ, then adjust the "mix" knob in the Distortion module. Not sure if it'll nail the sound you're looking for, or if you already tried it.

Man, I'm really liking a lot of the presets I'm hearing now that the collection has begun to fatten. Thanks to all for the goodness. :tu:
