Hi kokotte,
Sundog requires at least Mac OS X 10.7.0 (64bit) to run. I am afraid that it won't run on your system then :/.
Edit: dsan was faster
Best regards,
Hauke

Just think of a great classic like Sugar Sugar and you'll be fine.

Hauke,
Hope the sandman was gentle with you.
While you were messing with him I ran across a couple of things in the 2.0 beta.
MIDI clock sync is not working correctly with Live 9.
Symptom 1 - Sundog will start Live's transport when play started in Sundog but will not stop Live's transport when playback stopped in Sundog. (Sundog as master clock).
EDIT: Conversely, Live will start/stop Sundog playback. I suppose one could use Live as the master.
Setup: MIDI over LAN (rptMIDI)
Computer 1 - Vista SP2, Core 2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz, 64 bit OS, 6Gb RAM, Sundog Studio beta
Computer 2 - W7 SP1, Core i5 750 @ 2.67 GHz, 64 bit OS, 8Gb RAM, Live 9
Sundog preferences set-up:
MIDI Out Device - rptMIDI
MIDI In Device - not set*
Receive MIDI Clock Sync from Device - rptMIDI
Send MIDI Clock Sync - On
Symptom 2 - * - If I set MIDI In Device to rptMIDI then Receive MIDI Clock Sync loses its setting. rptMIDI has the ability to port in and out and works fine when using Rapid Composer, Band-in-a-Box and other similar programs.
And now a much needed FR - Undo will be very useful especially in the sequencer area. If I drag a line on a note and then decide I need it someplace else and then decide no it was better where it was....well you get my meaning.
EDIT: FR #2 - A scroll bar in addition to the arrows will be much faster to scroll the time line inside the sequencer and will be much appreciated.
Thanks very much!

Hehe, yep, everything was fine. I settled for Qxygene by J.M. Jarre and the other melodies stoppedMusical Gym wrote:Just think of a great classic like Sugar Sugar and you'll be fine.
Hmm.. interesting. I will have to check this on Windows on Monday. Right now I only have a MacBook with me, and here Sundog both starts and stops Live without problems (Sundog as master clock).dsan@mail.com wrote: MIDI clock sync is not working correctly with Live 9.

Live as the master: Yes, this should work flawlessly. I hope
Thanks, I will install rtpMIDI and see what I can do!dsan@mail.com wrote: Setup: MIDI over LAN (rptMIDI)

Thanks, this is a good ideadsan@mail.com wrote: EDIT: FR #2 - A scroll bar in addition to the arrows will be much faster to scroll the time line inside the sequencer and will be much appreciated.
BTW: You can also use your mouse wheel to scroll.
Mouse wheel = vertical scroll.
Mouse wheel + Ctrl = horizontal scroll.
Thanks a lot for your report, this was very valuable
Cheers,
Hauke

Yes and no: You could set the length of the song part to 8, 12, or 16 bars. But after that the sound will have to retrigger.lnikj wrote:Am I correct in thinking that the longest a sound (e.g. a pad or texture) can last without retriggering is 4 bars?

I'm probably doing something stupid then … but if I set it to 16 bars, and 64 steps in the pattern editor, with a single note sounding on step 1, then that step will retrigger 4 times during the 16 bars?hauke wrote:Yes and no: You could set the length of the song part to 8, 12, or 16 bars. Ah, I see! Please do this:lnikj wrote: I'm probably doing something stupid then … but if I set it to 16 bars, and 64 steps in the pattern editor, with a single note sounding on step 1, then that step will retrigger 4 times during the 16 bars?
* Set the pattern to "Off" (simply load the first preset in the list).
* Set the song part to 16 steps.
* Draw a long line in the editor.
Now Sundog should play back the note just once in the beginning.

Really useful application (still trying to figure out channels versus patterns, versus instruments, this does not seem to correspond to channels in DAW...).
In general, maybe an option to play standard sounds by the app itself and then export the midi file would make use more flexible (file could be generated on computer even without any DAW and file moved to whatever device and the song further edited there (e.g. in Cubasis on iPad or whatever)).
