Here's a way to get around that: Place the EQ module _above_ the distortion in the FX chain, and cut the lows with the EQ, then adjust the "mix" knob in the Distortion module. Not sure if it'll nail the sound you're looking for, or if you already tried it.
I'll give it a shot :). I remember trying to make some Hardstyle Kicks and I can't quite getting it sound like, well, how I normally hear them in tracks. The set for Spire for example gets it right.

Greetings,

Just a note to mention that I started making my own sounds with Hive last night, after watching a couple of instructional videos on YouTube. I started with the neat Brazil Pluck from Eternity Sound, hacked it to pieces, then rebuilt it into something else. If I get a set together I'll post it, though I tell you now that I'm certainly no match for the synth programming skills I've already seen/heard at work on this synth. But what fun ! It's very easy to program - straightforward synthesis architecture combined with excellent effects/dynamics processing and very flexible modulation routing - and I love its audio quality.

OK, enough praise, now back to work I go.

Best,

dp

Every time I enter the key (FOYB6-PEM3-O0NF-J59J-UDMG-8Y9S) it tells me to please enter the key carefully. Any idea why this is? I'm using the windows version, downloaded it last night. Anyone else having this problem?

Post

You really shouldn't post your key in public. Please edit it out.

If you entered the key and user name exactly like you received it in the email (everything in between the "-signs), I have no idea what could go wrong there. It worked fine for me.

Huh? I'm posting the key that's in the original post from this thread:

Here's a temporary serial for testing (valid till Jan 31st March 30th May 31st 2015):
Beta Tester
FOYB6-PEM3-O0NF-J59J-UDMG-8Y9S

Does that key not work?

Oops, sorry, I didn't realize it was the public beta key and thought you bought it and posted your key.

In that case entering "Beta Tester" as username and "FOYB6-PEM3-O0NF-J59J-UDMG-8Y9S" as key (without the "-signs) should work if you use the latest revision (3453).

Sorry again.

Worked like a charm! Thanks boss!

I went ahead and bought this...I don't have an expression pedal but I do have a breath controller and aftertouch. Howard's patches are pretty fun.

I do wish the preset browser had some sort of categorizing or tagging.

...you just reminded me that I have an expression pedal. Was looking at the notes on the HS patches last night and wondering exactly how I was gonna send those CC numbers.

You can set up your own 'folders' and drag and drop patches. And the 'folders' in Hive are also folders in your OS, so if you want to leave patches in their original places, you can create new category folders and copy patches into them. But yes, tagging would be nice.

Man I love those Howard Scarr strings ... :tu:

I'm outta the loop. Is the plan to have Hive out this month?

I would love to see 'Vintage Sound Pads' also take a crack at this synth. They've made absolutely beautiful patches for Zebra2, Diva, Spire and many more :).

I suppose I can come up with my own organization system and create folders for various categories. I think I'll hold off though until it's out of beta since I don't know if they're going to be adding to or modifying the factory bank for the official release.
