Tracktion Software

Hello,

So when I have a synthesizer input in the mixer, and the synth is already in a Pan mode which the mixer is picking up but it's not being translated to Tracktion in the Mix, even when I set the audio to pan in tracktion or other. I know I'm probably missing something, but it's not addressed in the manual or other, and it's really a hidden button or something I forgot to enable ?

Somebody, give me some good news.

Make sure the synth filter is before (to the left of) the volume/pan filter.

Synth Filter ? Left of the volume & Pan filter ? On the synthesizer I'm using a saved panned created sound, which is center panned and going through the left and right by an envelope modulation. It's already being panned if played through to the mixer, but when I input the usb codec into the computer and run it through Tracktion it doesn't pan in the recording. It's just showing the levels are equal dB as if it's being centered.

My apologies, I'm not actually sure what you're talking about. When I hear "mixer" I think of the right side section of Tracktion which includes the "filters" (a Tracktion term). These need to be in the correct order for the panning to work, but obviously that doesn't apply here.

yeah, the Tracktion filters didn't work either. The volume and Pan filter which is a default rack doesn't seem to Pan either when I adjusted two channel inputs for left and right. The treat as stereo pair doesn't seem to work either, because I'm running the synthesizer through a stereo channel of the hardware mixer. I thought that may work but the usb codec isn't translating this somehow. The master Pan will work of course but that will only pan the overall sound and not the already effected panning from the synthesizer itself. It's probably something obvious but maybe it isn't.

Actually, the term "Filter" has been phased out in Traction 6. The new term is simply "Plugin." That is consistent with the rest of the industry.

I can't work out whether this involves hardware or not. The mention of USB makes me think it might. Could you describe it allna bit more, perhaps?

Right, please provide the manufacturer and models of exactly which mixer, synth, and USB audio interface you are talking about.

A shot in the dark.

Click on the Tracktion track at issue over on the left and then look down at the properties section to see if the "Use as stereo pair" button is filled in. It may not pan if the option is not checked.

It involves hardware I believe, i'm using a behringer mixer which has a usb out that can send to the software. So I can record with it this way. The problem I'm having is the panning not working in Tracktion. I can't seem to get the panning to work, it's always centered. I'm using a synthesizer, hardware keyboard to my mixer, which routes the output from the usb of the mixer to the Tracktion software. The synthesizer is panning in from left to right, but when I input that into Tracktion, it doesn't receive the panning. I tried panning in Tracktion, but that didn't work. I can't figure out how to get Tracktion to receive the panning information that is already panning in my synthesizer.

You may not get proper advice until we get actual model numbers.

Where are you monitoring it that you can tell it's in stereo? The synth or the mixer? What type of connection are you using to get from the synth to the mixer? Are you going into one or two channels of the mixer?

My thought is that maybe you are using a TRS or TS cable from the synth's stereo output into a single mono channel of the mixer, which is then sending a mono channel to Tracktion, but without more detail on your setup, who knows.

Eureka!!!! I found out the issue, Jabe and Gigzaga, you steered me in the right direction. I had to look again at my Mixer manual, which says to use their Driver if using the Usb interface for connecting to software. I had to download it from the Site, and tried it again, saw those R&L levels panning unequally to my smiling desire. It sounds soooooo much better dynamically. All good and cheers all for the assistance. I'll be sure to come around again if I have any other issues.

I had my TRS cables in a stereo input of the mixer. I found the problem was simply installing the right driver of the company of the mixer.
