Hi all!
When I open a patch in ZebraHZ the order of the modules on the left side is different from how I set them in vanilla Zebra 2.
I had high hopes for the last update (Rev3304) to fix this. I deleted the folders, downloaded the newest version and registered it but the problem persists.
Am I the only one with this?
Best Regards
Thomas

Any specific patches we could check?

Ah yes I can see now, even with just the first few factory patches the order for several is different. It doesn't seem to affect the sound though (it's the order in the routing section that matters there) and tbh the order of modules on the left always seemed fairly arbitrary, in fact if you have selected module on top they move around depending on what has focus anyway (you can use this method to get them back in order if this really bothers you but really I don't see how it makes a difference).

The left panel is an unsorted *collection* of generator modules, it isn't meant to reflect the signal path because it can't - that's the job of the grids. Tip: Right-click in background or scrollbar of the lefthand panel and choose "selected on top".

Thanks for your answers!
I just like everything nice and tidy and keep moving modules around till they're where I want them.
Well I guess it's time to get this ocd under control.

I must admit it used to bother me a bit that the order was chaotic. I'd always spend a minute or two reordering them. After a year or two I learned to accept the "chaos" there. Easy

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states by reordering those modules you decreased the entropy (chaos) of Zebra but increased the entropy of the universe. It's best to accept the entropy within Zebra to reserve that extra entropy when you really need it.Howard wrote:I must admit it used to bother me a bit that the order was chaotic. I was, at first, also bothered by the arbitrary collection of modules on the left and tried to keep them arranged in a way that made sense to me. And that's understandable since we tend to focus on that arrangement first; they seem to resemble "modules" and are easier to relate to than the grid. While the grid looks more like added info for reference, it really *is* the synth.
I've learned to focus primarily on the grid and think of the list on the left as just the details. Not as pretty but not as confusing.
