The synth could be made much simpler and have a much better view. Sure it looks fancy,
but i just want something really pleasing to look at and not distract from routing system.

A big minus to modulation matrix. it is really big and clumsy but yet so small screens showing text.
Something that show alot of information is spires modulation matrix.
Another minus is actually that you cant see whats routed if you dont go into modulation matrix.
Serum you can tell how it move and stuff and massive also. A big visual help especially if you want to
look on how other patches is routed.

Another minus is that i cant select phase for sub or have it as seperate oscillator not controlled like a sub osc. I think of sylenth1 here.
Really nice job with sound quality, but that interface is just damn distracting :( To much cluttering, i hope this will be much more simple and straightforward to look at.
Hmm....I don't see how the layout could get anymore simple. I love the way it's laid out. Just my 2 cents. And I think he already said phase for sub osc is coming. I would hardly say not having graphical responding envelopes is a "minus", that's really cool in Serum but that's like the only synth that does this as far as I know. You act as if it's a standard feature in every synth? This is still a beta.
Well the design is really futuristic. By taking away slot of the neat look you will get a simpelt view. Sylenth1 is an great example of that. I didnt mean the synth have to have like serum, it can also have like massive so you can se what is routed :) Well i dont expect synths to be allways the same as past. Serum is nice cause it brings something that feels to be like 2015. Yes this is beta. I only say my thoughts. Not like anybody will care but if that is the case then its okey. I allready bought hive cause it soubd amazing but i really dont like the inteface. It is to flashy. Just want to do music :) as its only beta yet it gona be interesting how the end product will look. Right now hive have a plastic look :)
I agree to have some visual feedback similar to serums envelope animation or Massive color rings, etc. something along those lines would be great as long as it can be done without being too intrusive.

Cheers zvenx, wasn't aware of that.

NP..... its like how apple took years to finally include a right click mouse in their lineup whilst there OS could accommodate that I think might have been since OS9.

i Said some bad things about the interface. I am glad everybody agreed about some visual rings to see how things are routed.

but what i dont like about the interface is that its to much deadspace only there for pure visuals. Would love to have a tighter design, the ram around modulation matrix is to thick also for my licking. Would be nice to se a more slick design.

Sure you can minimize the size of hive but then everything gets just harder to look at. Some tighter designt would be preferable. Massive has alot more functions than this synth yet smarter design. Well it is ugly. But feels nice when you get to know it. Sylenth1 is also much tighter, nice colors easy to guide yourself within. Spire is not one of my favorite gui, but it sure is slick but they made it too slick by making phase be retrig etc to save space. But i think improvements can be done

Not sure what to say. Hive has an excellent design where everything is clearly laid out and you can shrink it if it's too much. It also certainly looks plenty flashy and 2015, like some people argued against.

Hive wasn't meant to have a ton of nesting like Spire or Zebra, but instead be like Sylenth where everything is laid out on a single screen. I don't mind nesting so much as it's done intelligently, especially when it comes to making space for new features.

It's still only a WIP, but I'm happy with it as a whole. To each there own :).

Serum/Sylenth1 have all dragging numbers and it's just better, please Urs if you click short it should have the scroll window but long holding und and down the changing number without the window :(
Have you tried the mouse wheel?
not yet, but hmmmmm i prefer the mouse holding option far better :P

I prefer the way it is. It's just as fast if not faster Imo, but like others said scrolling your mouse wheel does what your wanting I think.
And adding my suggestion wouldnt hurt either.... it works in other great vsts too....

It's already there. Push preset, click on one of the presets and you are in arrows heaven
I don't know which version you're looking at, hollo, but in 3453 the arrows in the preset browser disappeared. The keyboard arrows still work, at least until you click the virtual keyboard, in which case it gets focus and the keyboard arrows no longer move around the browser.

So, +1 for bringing back the arrows in the preset browser.

I think the UI is one of the best of any synth. It is a pleasure working with it. A UI should be about workflow and visual clarity and now about how many controls can be crammed into the smallest space.

One suggestion is the knobs are a little dark on the default gamma setting.

Post

Not sure if this is a bug or intended but if you set Semitone or Octave as a Mod target with an LFO you end up getting the same sound. Selecting either one gives you OSC#:Tune in the MM.

I like that its not clutered, thats just my opinion. But i believe he said there is something that will be going in the space above the keyboard. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I also like the spaces, gives the GUI the individual touch and feels open. It also has this 3D effect, very nice!

That's work in progress. We're trying to find a contrast that works on cheap graphics cards/screens as well as for great ones. It'll take a few more iterations.

More visual feedback might happen, but we need to stay considerate with the CPU usage of UI drawing. We can't have a low CPU synth that eats up your CPU for some flashy graphics ;)

As for blank UI spaces... we will need that and we want to keep the option to add/move something once we fulfill feature requests.

I disagree. That extra of functionality is paid for by a lot more tabbing, and thus a much slower workflow :clown:
