I just downloaded the demo version DESPITE the Jarre reference, not because of it 8) Curious if this one uses as much CPU as the other Xils stuff. Would be cool to be able to turn 0df off when not needed

OK, played around with it for a while. Pads simply overwhelm my computer in terms of CPU. Anyway, the sound as a whole seems good, although a bit cheesy in my view.
The knobs sometimes don't react to my mouse. Odd, encountered the same problem with Korg's MonoPoly a couple of days ago. Maybe it has to do with the readouts that they both display...
Xils synths always run at full quality. Iirc you can choose to display, or not, the readouts. For the Xpu print, you can also reduce the polyphony to the number of voices you actually need. I was able to use up to around 15 instances of the Minisyn'x in a track without problems or having to freeze, so I'd say it has a moderate cpu charge, for its not a cpu lite synth. All in all, compared to ither hi-end VAs, I'd say it is less cpu demanding.

Well, Xilsuzia, I already deleted it yesterday...

Hmmm then I wish you a better computer when you can get one, because even on my antique previous computer ( Now 7 years old, quad 9650) I was able to simultaneously run at least 4/5 instances of the Syn'X , the mini big brother, which is more cpu demanding than the mini.

Well, I built this computer about 2 years ago, so I will not get a new one before 2020 or so. Until then I will stick to efficient stuff like Sylenth :)

hard to believe you're not being disingenuous and don't just have some kind of axe to grind when you're calling the guy 'xilsuzia'

Post

Well, he seems to be promoting Xils all over this forum, so Xilsuzia seems appropriate to me  There is nothing offensive about it because I have nothing against Xils or Xilsuzia, although of course I wish Xils stuff were less CPU hungry...

Runs fine on a dual core laptop, your machine needs checking

Congratulations. This synth has been awarded the FLS GOLD SEAL of Disapproval!

(Unfortunately, they are as rare as Rudess endorsements.).

Good morning, stalker :)
Disapprove?! No, it seems a nice little synth. If anything I disapprove of my computer :hihi:
I do think the colors are a bit gloomy, though. But it is easier on the eyes than most fancy interfaces.

Also runs on my laptop that is a complete snail. But I could not play a lot of patches simulatenously on this one.

In all seriousness, my PC will be 2 years old this July. It's only an I3 and yet I'm able to run 48 instances of Omnisphere before it runs out of juice and crashes on me. So I'd seriously consider having your PC checked for problems if even running one instance of Mini Syn-X gives you problems. Because something about that just doesn't sound right. Shouldn't happen unless you're running a Pentium 4.

No no, I can run it, but there were a couple of patches, mostly pads, that were too much for my computer when playing 4 notes at the same time. It is an AMD computer, I suppose it is just not good enough for modern plugin :?

1. laser harp preset... playing notes in fast succession makes cpu hit 127% and synth then goes silent. Have to kill synth and reload. No other preset does this, or any other synth ive tried

The cpu problem, its specific to that synth. If i have other synths loaded, they still play ok while the xils one remains silent.
Did this ever get fixed?

Fixed in the last 2.0.1 beta

Maybe ... maybe ... it could be a good idea not change the computer itself, but just the CPU, put an avearge intel i5 on it ( if the motherboard supports it) and add a bit of RAM ? It would certainly be less expensive than changing the PC itself, and could do a lot.( I changed the mobo and the CPU of one of my kids last week and it made wonders )
