Mcompare: File Slot >> Sync >> Crash

Hi - I Simplified and tried with a blank project, one track, two inserts only ... same results: the Sync button functions as an "MCompare Disabler" , stops MCompare playback and parks the MCompare cursor at the start of the clip.
Also, "Start" and "Detect" are grayed out when Sync is not enabled, so I can't use them when Sync is disabled, MCompare is green, and doing playback.
I just researched screen vid capture software ... Is the choice really between $300+ Camtasia-like programs and free-ware that puts adware or worse on the computer (which is what I've been reading about now)?
i5-4570 3.2 GHz, 64-bit W7 SP1, 16 GB RAM, built by ADK. I wouldn't think the computer is the issue?
Thanks -

[Too late to edit, sorry.]
I tried one more thing - brand new empty project, one track a few inserts - same results, the Sync button stopped playback and moved the cursor to the start of the project.
Also - I looked at options for buying video screen capture software so I could make a vid - is it really a choice of freeware loaded up with bloatware/malware/adware, vs. paying $300+ for something like Camtasia? Ouch!

Ok, so first of all Camtasia is free for 30 days, so you can just try and delete it afterwards. There are definitely some freeware utilities as well. And you can even use a camera in your phone!
I just want to see what you are doing.
I'm quite lost in all your descriptions, it looks like you are trying to do something contradicting.
So:
- When sync is disabled, Start & Detect are disabled of course, because these have no sense without sync. (that's an exclamation mark - since you are surprised these are disabled, it looks like you don't really understand the point of sync, we need to clear that up)
- Are you saying that if sync is enabled and you click the File button, the the sample view stays grayed?
- Does your file playing without Sync mode?
- Are you sure your locator in your host isn't moved a lot to the right for example? This is VERY IMPORTANT! If you have a long project and set playback to say 10 minutes from the beginning and import a file 5 minutes long and set sync, it won't play of course! Unless you set delay to say 10 minutes. The point of sync is that it makes the position in the File exactly the same as in your host, so that it always plays the same thing if these are the same songs. But that assumes your song has been rendered from the beginning!
That said, the plugin WILL NEVER be able to tell, if there's a significant delay! It cannot know that 10 minutes later there will be same audio clip. It can detect delay only for a few seconds as defined in the docs.

Hi, thank you for answering!
I will take a phone vid. What is the best way to get it to you ... I might guess it would be too big a file to send to info@Melda ... ?

Hi Mr. Melda -
I have sent you an email, to info@meldaproduction.com , from my Google Drive - it is a link and an invitation for you to view the video I created showing you the problems I'm having using Sync in MCompare (the vid was created from my phone, sorry for the unprofessional quality).
I look forward to your reply ... what am I doing wrong?
Thank you!
PS - 2 files identical, except for some over-processing on the Cubase project file (reverb and distortion) to distinguish it on the video from the unprocessed reference. Just a minute or two long, and sequence of clicking in MCompare similar/identical to the short little vid you so kindly posted. The delay is just a few seconds.

Problem solved!!
Thanks to Mr. Melda for working so hard to help one little poster out of many. Fantastic support. I will post about this on every forum I am on!
For those that might follow: My project started at Bar 50 (1:38 seconds), and MCompare wasn't able to deal with that. The solution was to type in "-1:38" in the detection window. Then it works just like in the little video that Mr. Melda put together (just to help me troubleshoot!) -
At this point it works just fine. I'll hit detection, and it will modify the actual time differential to some value which is not precisely what the delay time is, but I don't care because it sounds great.
One last question: What does "Start" refer to ... is it just saying that "MCompare identifies the start of the comparison file as starting 1:38 seconds into the project"?
Thanks again, Mr. Melda!!
