'Clicking' sound through filters, even with slow attacks?

Hi everyone, I may be missing something really obvious and SIMPLE here, but I'm struggling to work out why I am hearing this 'clicking' when my LP filter cutoff is pulled down low, even when I adjust the ENV1 attack and sustain settings ... also, the 'Smooth Attacks' option is ticked under the Global Menu.

Filter 'clicking' issue is usually a simple thing to fix with other synths that I've used - but I just can't figure it out in Zebra2 :( Please help a Zebra2 noob!

Howdy there. If you can upload a patch to a sharing site like box.com I'd do what I can to take a look.

Do you have the XMF filter loaded by any chance? And if so, do you have the click parameter dialed up?

bmrzycki - sure that would be great, I have uploaded the patch here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/cr7fow

The clicking is most noticable when you turn down the Cutoff on the XMF1!

LFO8 - Yeah I am using the XMF1, and I have tried the 'Click' parameter, but it doesn't seem to help?

Hi dav0001, the problem isn't actually a problem: it's a feature! Envelope 1's release is set so short that it produces a click on note release. Change Envelope 1's Release from 2.50 to around 7.00 and the clicking will disappear with (to me at least) no audible change to the overall sound. Hope this helps.

(By the way, you should probably delete that upload since it comes from a commercial soundset ;) )

Indeed. A good envelope can go straight to silence, it's useful for some sounds, but if the waveform is not near zero at the point the envelope snaps shut, you'll get a click as it's chopped off. Real sounds never just "stop", there is some kind of fadeout time, even if it seems to be instant.

Yes, I agree... the minimum Release (i.e. zero) is a tad too fast.

Thanks everyone, I seriously thought I had already tried adjusting the ENV release... dohh!
