Actually, I program most of my own sounds. When I'm in a hurry and I know exactly what I want and know where it is, I'll use a preset. But for the most part, I do my own programming.

Not sure how you deduced that I use a ton of presets (not even sure what pieces you listened to) but that simply isn't the case, unless you just happened to listen to a piece where I happened to use presets.

Anyway, no, I don't use presets for the most part, which is why Omni 2's 2,000 new patches, or whatever number they are, don't interest me. In fact, I created my own library of 350 patches for Omni 1 that I have sold quite a few of.

So no, I don't use presets for the most part.

Maybe I'm just good at sound design.
so... you should be set now... you are not purchasing Omni 2... you create your own sounds... what else are you looking for?

just curious...

On my possible "buy list" are the following synths.

Diva
Syn-X
Spectral
Sunrizer (when they come out with a Windows version)

I'm also still demoing Diversion. I'm not thrilled with the filters. Otherwise, it's not a bad synth. There's a lot to like there.

And of course I'm always looking for the ultimate modular synth though I know that's never happening. No one has come close yet except Reaktor but I'm not into creating my own synths and the modulars that have been made so far are lacking in sound quality.

Sonigen Modular, MUX and KarmaFX, architecturally speaking, are in the ball park but still have a ways to go.

I wouldn't say "never". Berlin Modular (U-He) may be a long time coming but it will come one day. It won't offer as much flexibility as Reaktor or Max but I very much doubt there will be any shortcomings in the sound quality.

I'm sure it will be great, sound wise. I have Bazille and love the sound. I just wish it was truly modular like Sonigen is. Of course it also needs to have more modules.

which begs the question... if you are not interested in Omni 2... why are you in the thread? which begs another question... it appears that Omni 2 is state of art... i.e. ideal for sound designers... but not worth the update/upgrade price to you... sounds kind of crazy to me... ability to load samples, layer samples and mangle them... but not worth the update/upgrade cost... if 1 + 1 = 2... something sound kind of off to me...

and if you are into Modular... it appears that Propellerheads Reason is the answer for you... but then again... imagine... creating patches in Reason... and taking that wave file of those patches and load it into Omni 2... for further editing... personally... i am not into sound design... but if i were... Omnis 2 seem to be something i would be interested in... because... it does appear that Omni 2 is taking sound design to a new level... that is why the update/upgrade price is $250... i will be paying $200... i own Stylus RMX, Trillian and Omni... and cant wait...

last point... if you are into those other synths... why not start a thread about those... and let us individuals that waiting for Omni 2 enjoy this time waiting for it...

right?

Okay, first of all, you asked me to drop it and I did. So why are you still harping on this? I said, in the post after you asked me to drop it, I've said my peace and I'm dropping it. So why aren't you?

Secondly, yes, from a business perspective it probably does make sense to get Omni 2, eventually. But I have so many projects on my plate right now (I'm working on a Dune 2 library after I finish the Z3ta+2 library I'm working on now) that I probably wouldn't get to Omni 2 for a good year or more. And since the $250 upgrade cost is going to be the same whether I do it today or next year, there is no rush as I wouldn't be touching the synth at least until 2016 at the earliest.

So with a good 12 libraries on my plate for sound design, this just isn't a priority right now.

But you are right. From a business perspective it does make sense to eventually upgrade. So I am not ruling it out completely.

Like I said though, I've dropped this, so why don't you do the same?

i am kind of confused... you are not interested in Omni 2... but you "may" have more posts in this thread than anyone else... plus... you are not looking to update to Omni 2... this is a Omni 2 thread and not a Omni 1 thread... if this were an Omni 1 thread i could understand why you are here... but it is not... again... i am kind of confused...

with all this work on your desk... how do you have time to come into a thread about a product that you are no interested in... personally... i would be working on those projects... and not telling the same story over and over again... I BROUGHT OMNI 7 MONTHS AGO... AND NOT UPDATING/UPGRADING UNTIL MORE FEATURES ARE ADD... that actually sounds counter productive to me...

again... could us individuals that are waiting for Omni 2 enjoy the wait without your input... remember... you are not interested... just imagine... there are a group of people looking forward to the release... but there is one individual that posts in a thread "almost" daily that is not interest in the product under discussion...

the logic behind that is counter productive...

Oh for the love of God. Read the post I made after you asked me to drop it. I said fair enough, I'm dropping it. The ONLY reason I said anything after that is because YOU YOURSELF asked me to post some of the music that I've done, so that's what I did when I posted a link to my soundcloud account.

That could have been the end of it. But NO.

YOU came back and said it sounds like I did nothing but presets.

So I responded to that post telling you that this wasn't true.

YOU are the one who has kept this going NOT ME.

So can we PLEASE JUST DROP THIS ALREADY?

dropping it for me... would be not see you post in this thread again... again... you are not interested in Omni 2... you have stated that more than 7 times in this thread...

which begs the question... why are you still posting in this thread... remember... you are not interested Omni 2...

stop posting... it will "officially" be dropped!!!

Then you shouldn't have asked me to post my music.

Were you baiting me? Why did you ask me to post my music?

I think that deserves an answer if you didn't want me to post to this thread anymore.

Unreal.
