I can understand not being ok with shelling out another 250 after only 7 months of using Omni 1. But if the features that were added to V2 weren't enough for someone to upgrade, i don't think any amount of features would have been. This update is all about sound design. Omni 1 was ok for sound design, but quite a lot about the sound sources. This update makes it a proper sound design workstation. Having bought Omni over the last half year to year would really kind of feel crappy and and I can understand wanting to convince yourself that the upgrade isn't that big of a deal. But truth is, it's pretty massive.

Yep. I was a few months outside of the grace period but with that list of features is a no brainer :tu:

Investing in significant improvements to what you already know is often better than throwing an entire new platform in the mix. I won't have to spend my time learning a new synth and can take advantage of the new features as I need to.

tbh if that happened to me I'd probably just make an Omnisphere soundset and sell a dozen or so copies at 20 bucks each to make up the cost of the upgrade ;)

a one sentence solution... especially when one calls themselves a sound designer... i may wrong... but one would think all sound designer think that way... sell sound sets to buy other sh!t that is on the market...

Can Omini 2 be used as an FX rack, seems like the FX alone are worth having....
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Chances are no besides importing samples.

Shame, lets hope they make that an option, be fun to play my guitar through some of those effects!

I believe the Omni 1 effects are Nomad Factory. I don't know if the Omni 2 ones are.

Try MAGMA for something similar.

They've said before that their license agreement with Nomad who provided the effects precludes them from being able to run live audio through them (so they wouldn't be competing against the company's own FX plugins).

Not that this couldn't change but it seems unlikely.

Just wondering if Spectrasonics has raised their MSRP/MAP with this new version?
I'm seeing prices suddenly closer to the $600.00 mark than the old $479.00

Not sure where you're looking, but no change on Musician's Friend, JRR Shop or indeed the Spectrasonics website. They've said from the word go it's $499 RRP, it wouldn't change now.

Not sure who you consider mom & pop...
($526.82 exc vat/632.19 inc vat)
http://www.timespace.com/product/OMNI2- ... ere_2.html
Or by upgrade path:
($498.27 ex Vat/$597.93 inc Vat)
http://www.timespace.com/product/OMNI-1 ... phere.html

But in general, I'm seeing prices go back up for this rather than down. At one point AudioDeluxe had it for about $410.00? I think it was the above T&S that had it for like $350 and I think Best Service was right around that price also.

As far as the Brick & Mortars we have in our immediate radius (150m), they're mostly the big chains, but there are some smaller ones like JRR around too. (Unfortunately all a no-go since applying tax bumps the price up for being local to where shopping online is the only way to get a deal.) Although, every once in awhile, you land in something that can't be passed up. 8)

But there does appear to be a price increase implied by this.
