I'm using Mulab 6.4.18 on OSX 10.8.5 and cannot get my New Sonic Arts plugins (Granite/Vice/Nuance) to load. When I list them in the VST add they appear as disabled. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Maybe you're trying to load the 64 bit version of that VST plug? As MuLab on OSX still only comes in a 32 bit version it can only host 32 bit plugins. Cfr http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mux/us ... ugins.html

New Sonic Arts VST plugs are all 64 bit. Only the AUs are still available in 32 bit. (which is kinda odd)
Beacause I use them myself quite a lot, I heavily recommend looking into Blue Cats Patchwork
(which is very cheap and an awesome tool) to load them into muLab.
I bought it some time ago mainly for Pro Tools to overcome its AAX limitations, its very cheap.
You could also look into DDMFs Metaplugin, which even looks a little bit like the MUX...
But it has some graphical glitches with some plugins. Blue Cats Patchwork is rocksolid and superstable. You can also setup parallel processing and layerng very fast and super easy.
Best,
tL.

I didn't realise it was still 32 bit only, it doesn't make that clear in the product description or download page.mutools wrote:Maybe you're trying to load the 64 bit version of that VST plug? True. Its not very clear. However all that 64bit hype, well....
You really need to use a lot of huuuuge multilayer based sample libraries *at once* to push a 32bit host to the max.
By the way: If you really need 64bit plugs in muLab that you can't get otherwise, (like SampleTank3 for example)
you can also use jBridge for OSX and Windows (its free, but only works for VST, not AU)
A lot of people use jBridge to load 32bit into 64bit hosts, not many know that you can use it the other way around as well.
And if you really need big stuff for orchestral scoring to surround or whatever,
you should do what theese hollywood guys do: go with VSL Vienna Ensemble Pro Hosts, server-based.
(But I doubt you would use muLab then...

Not the only reason, on Mac many 32 bit plugins just don't work properly, for example all recent Arturia and AAS plugins just have a frozen GUI in MuLab and several other 32 bit only hosts. These plugins really work best in their 64 bit versions.LYTZ wrote:True. Its not very clear. However all that 64bit hype, well....

Checked the gui heavy Arturia stuff right now:
ARP2600 and CS80V. Works nice here. (OSX 10.9.4)
Even the fancy patch-cable animations and the fan animations.
Have you installed the latest patches with the new Arturia software center?
Even the Steinberg and Vengeance stuff with which I had a lot of problems in the past in other hosts
are working pretty smooth in muLab. Thats also one of the reasons why I like it so much:
I didn't had any major plugin glitches (yet) at all, which is unusual. And my plug in count is *really* high.

Yes, as I said, it's the recent ones that don't work, same with AAS. This seems to be the case in several 32 bit hosts, but most of the others have 64 bit versions too so it doesn't matter. I guess there is some graphics library they are accessing that doesn't agree with 32 bit hosts. (Also it appears to be a VST thing, 32 bit AUs are working, but I don't think MuLab supports AU?)

What problems with recent AAS in OSX? I don't see any UI issues with Strum2, UA2, SS2, Chroma, LoungeLizard? Am I missing something?
BTW, if I change my VST folder content a lot some (32bit) UIs will freeze, so I close, Trash the User>Settings>VstPlugins.xml, restart, rescan plugins and all is well.

That's very strange, they were frozen, now they are working. Maybe something needed to refresh?
Edit - and now they are not loading at all! Something is strange.

LYTZ, Patchwork is an awesome plugin. Not only did it solve my problem, but it has opened up a whole new range of possibilities in sound design and fx chaining. Thanks again!
