I'm really looking forward to trying out these new synth waveforms. From 4 to 400!
This is worth the upgrade price alone.

Omnisphere is exact what spectrasonics say.... a Power Synth! Just learn to use it and you know it's true. Omnisphere 2 just will have more power :)

So, in your hunt for a 'best deal' you found the most expensive options and quoted them in this thread? Shopping: UR DOIN IT RONG.

That is, of course, if you're shopping and not simply indulging in some tiresome tyre-kicking exercise.
i think BBFG# needs attention... rompler or not... he does not own Omnisphere... yes, i calling it bashing when a individuals constantly makes comments about a product they do not own...

here we are two weeks away from Omni 2 and this character comes into a thread with "his" opinions about a product he does not own... calling Omni a rompler... which has negative connotations... especially for us Omni users... but this character always finds himself in these threads but do not own the product...

i am no sure why us Omni user cant wait with bated breath for Omni 2 without these individuals that do not own the product coming into the threads with there opinions...

really!!! who give a flying f@ck about thier opinions...

therefore... for me... it always goes back to BBFG# needs attention... there is something missing in his life... because... think about it... why would he come into a thread about a product he does not own... knowing calling Omni a rompler... has negative connotations for us Omni user...

4482 posts in 2 years... that is a lot of posts... in my opinion BBFG# likes talking loud... but rarely does he say anything of meaning... i.e. showing the prices of Omni with the VAT added...

could we just enjoy the wait without the NON-Omni owners giving their two cents... because their two cents plus $1.50 is still... $1.50...

did anybody try my little roland xv5080 inspired omni template?

its quite useful and really is dead easy to use if you want to make your own sounds. i put a lot of though into both its ease of use and complexity.

In light of the recent trolling: Isn't Omnisphere 2 a RAMpler? :clown:
It's the music that makes the science worthwhile.

Calling Omnisphere a rompler, assuming that a rompler can also do dsp synthesis, isn't necessarily wrong, it's just a bit silly, as there isn't really a need to define it differently than any other synthesizer that can load samples, like Absynth etc. It just has the added benefit of coming with a large library of multi-sampled instruments. In short, it just doesn't matter. I don't see BBFG#'s posts as being particular bashing though.

Anyways, just a couple weeks left now. I've actually hit the point where I don't think I could possibly be interested in anything else. I just don't care about new instruments. My GAS is waning, less time for music these days. But I think Omni 2 will be good for people that don't necessarily have a lot time for sound design, what with the new functions with the browser, like sound match and locking certain aspects of the sound when you change presets, will be hugely useful in finding a new sound that you want without necessarily starting from scratch.

I came in this last time offering no opinion about the product, just observing the market trends ATP.
I showed one place with and without their VAT included and remarked on others where I saw price fluctuation. The real omni-trolls jumped in and made it all about 'negative connotations' and I answered as simply as possible to hopefully get past that and leave it. They continue on in 'praise omni or be damned' troll-like fashion. The most negative thing I think about it now has nothing to do with the product itself. But is regularly shown here by others.

Neither the most wonderful or worse thing ever coded for the public; Omni is a good tool.

I also like to call things by their strengths.
And Omni's ROM Samples and ROMpler style layering seem to me as its strongest features.

edit/add: And I do own Atmosphere. Which isn't the point anyway.

Equally not giving the 'RA' back to them either.

We'll find out soon!

Right, but to be fair, Omnisphere's synth engine as it currently stands is pretty full featured compared to... well say Diva. Omnisphere has 84 different filter types that you can run two at a time in series or parallel. Diva has 12 filters that you can run one at a time. Omnisphere has 33 different effects with a four slots in an A bus, B bus and four slots for a common bus. Diva has 5 effects and two slots. Omnisphere has an incredibly full function Arpeggiator, Diva has a very basic one. Omnisphere has an incredible modulation system, Diva had a pretty good one (that's kind of confusing to use). Diva has a single layer. Omnisphere has dual layers times 8. I could go on, but you get the idea.

So, Diva sells for $179, eh? People pay it all day long. It sounds good. I paid that (well probably a bit less because I bought it on a pre-release sale) and it's worth it. So, with that in mind it could be easily said that Omnisphere 1, sans ROM, would be worth... well $199? I also happen to think it's very well laid out UI wise. So... look! It also comes with a large very good sample library. Go to EastWest and look at the price of large professional sample libraries. Quantum Leap Ra sells for $300. Anyway so look at it like you're buying a good full featured synth and a kick ass sample library and just move on. Or don't. Buy a sample library of your choice and separate synth of your choice. There are plenty to buy. I just find that the combination of them in Omnisphere makes it more than the sum of it's parts.

I agree with you 100%. IMO, Omnisphere, as a synth, is no slouch. To be fair though, I did not buy Diva at $179. IMO, Zebra 2, which costs $199, blows Diva out of the water as far as what it can do. I think Diva is overpriced for what it brings to the table. Of course that's just my opinion and I know many don't agree or it wouldn't be selling like hotcakes.

Point is, without the library, I don't think Omnisphere is a $200 synth. Maybe $150. Certainly not $200.

Now, the new version? That's a different story.

Oh, and the EWQL stuff? I have just about all of it and I think the whole line is overpriced. Unfortunately, when you're talking about that kind of quality in orchestral and ethnic instruments, there isn't anything cheaper of the same quality and some of the stuff (8Dio, Vienna, etc.) are astronomical in price, which is why I don't even consider getting them.

So yes, considering all the samples you get with Omnisphere, it's a very good deal.

Still in my top 5 synths which is starting to look like this.

Omnisphere
Zebra 2
Dune 2
Serum
MUX Modular

What a pity the late great Frank Zappa is no longer with us. This sort of stuff was grist to the mill for his songwriting.

“Anybody who wants religion is welcome to it, as far as I'm concerned--I support your right to enjoy it. However, I would appreciate it if you exhibited more respect for the rights of those people who do not wish to share your dogma, rapture, or necrodestination.”

There is little doubt in my mind that Omnisphere 2 will be the single most powerful synth/rompler/generator/whatever yet. I believe this sufficiently that I have prepurchased it sight unseen. The extent of my belief does not, however, turn Omnisphere into a fetish for me.

'fetish', noun: "an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion"

Please stop being so silly. It is just an audio plugin.

I read I believe it was in Computer Music magazine that Spectrasonics will be releasing some new instrument. Wow, the future is bright. I hope that they top the new kids on the block Kaleidoscope, Serum, Cycle and Iris.

Yes, it was probably this on Music Radar:

http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/spe ... ore-616236

Whole thing is well worth a read, but this is the most relevant paragraph right at the end:
We've got things in the works for Trilian, and also RMX - we haven't forgotten about rhythm! - so there's a long future for all the things we do. And there'll be new instruments, too - not just the three we've done, but new ones.
