Some love for MXXX

It's only yesterday that I discovered the full potential of MXXX. First I thought it was "only" a container for all the different Melda plugins. But only yesterday I realized you can put different effects on every band, like put a delay only on frequencies between 100 Hz and 1000 Hz, a Granular on everything above 2000 Hz and so on. Now that's really cool, like in Spectrumworx where you can define the range of an effect. And the limits can even be modulated as in all the MMultiband effects. Amazing !!

I only yesterday just heard about this. Sounds cool, but I'm confused. I didn't see a download for it... Do you have to download the entire bundle to get it?

Yes there's a bundle download on the Melda website (+- 110 MB if I remember well). In the installer, you can choose what you want to install.

I have it since it's first release and I love it. It's a multiband behemoth with all Melda plugins available at your disposal. Lots of flexibility and infinite possibilities

So, if you want it, what's the total cost?

It's actually much more than that!
It is pretty much ultimate modular yet easy to use. Besides the crossovers and general modularity, you can for example even have a feedback from anything to anything, use any signal in a modulator to control any parameters etc... It can really do almost anything
.
zerocrossing: Currently it's for MTotalBundle owners only, I'm not really sure about the licencing options yet, originally I thought it would just be a very expensive effect (as it contains all other effects...), but there are suggestions about unlocking based on licences to other effects... not sure yet, the second one is rather problematic to implement... My best idea would be to use some introductory price starting by say 200 EUR and rising say 3 EUR every day... up to some final point... suggestions are welcome

Woah. $1088 is too rich for my blood. I also don't really need most of the Mtotalbundle plug ins. Is it possible to make Mxxx so that it works 100% but only with the effects of plug ins that you own? That way, one could slowly buy the effects that they want slowly over time instead of for a big chunk. $1088 is close to my entire yearly music budget.MeldaProduction wrote:It's actually much more than that!It is pretty much ultimate modular yet easy to use. I think you are on the right track here. Restricting this to total bundle owners will not be effective in getting into a lot of hands. But MXXX is a unique and vastly powerful plug-in and a premium price is warranted. My suggestion to maximize sales and income would be to set it at about $300 USD and let it be part of the rotating sales specials. That would periodically make it $150, which you might think too paltry for such capability. But in the end, it would be better for you to sell, say, 2500 units at that price than only 500 at twice the price.

I am looking this from far (not having used it), nevertheless some ideas came to mind, in order to broaden its access.
If MXXX requires basic functionality, which is the same some plugins have... then Mxxx could have a list of required plugins; it could be easy to be understood by potential customers that MautodynamicEq, MMultibanDynamics and all the other BIG/ plugins are required to be owned.
Then the rest or minor plugins could be each activated in Mxxx (if you have the acquired license file).
If attainable, this alternative would combine the optional way proposed in previous posts, but taking away the mentioned difficulty of striping Mxxx from the complex functionality Melda BIG plugins add to the table.

zerocrossing: That's one of the ideas, which I quite like, but there are many many many technical & marketing problems...we'll see.
dmbaer: Sorry, but that's out of question for many obvious reasons - for example the fact that MXXX can replace all effects in our line, while MTotalBundle costs 999 EUR and considering what it does and all the goodies such as free for life updates, it's still a bargain. MXXX needs to be expensive, period. After all it's most like the most powerful effect in the world...it can replace pretty much anything, except for some very specialized tools.
Nspace: The idea is more like selling MXXX base engine with the default modular processors for some basic price, e.g. 200 EUR and then additional FX would be based on existing licences - e.g. Flanger FX would be requesting licence to MMultiBandFlanger.

I quite understand your position on this, and I do not disagree that MXXX will be the most powerful effect in the world … for a while. But you’ve shown some possibilities that nobody seems to have thought of before. How long do you think it will be before somebody like Blue Cat or Plug & Mix, with their existing effect chainers, will expand them to multi-channel with feedback and throw in an integrated band splitter and modulation capabilities? And then sell those things for less than a hundred bucks? I think that will be inevitable … at least if I were one of those outfits, I’d be working on that already. Everybody already has tons of basic plug-ins for delay, phasing/flanging, and so on. What makes MXXX so valuable IMO is its structure as a plug-in routing framework with modulation support. MXXX has the delays, etc. as integral components, but MXXX would still be killer plug-in if it only provided the framework into which existing VST plug-ins could be loaded (and modulated).MeldaProduction wrote: dmbaer: Sorry, but that's out of question for many obvious reasons - for example the fact that MXXX can replace all effects in our line, while MTotalBundle costs 999 EUR and considering what it does and all the goodies such as free for life updates, it's still a bargain. I hope for your sake that I am wrong. You deserve to succeed with MXXX because of your inspired design vision. I’ll be quite happy to be proven wrong. But if you price MXXX much higher than a typical high-end synth, I fear your opportunity to dominate this market may be lost. On the other hand, if you could sell 5000 units in the first years at 150 bucks apiece, that’s three-quarters of a million dollars right off the bat. Furthermore, with those kinds of sales, I have to believe that any competitors would think twice about trying to compete.
Just my two cents.

To some extent i agree with dmbaer idea that "What makes MXXX so valuable IMO is its structure as a plug-in routing framework with modulation support" but complemented with the fact that it happens on the Melda ecosystem, that has "free for life updates" so far proving that are future proof, add almost instant dev support and bug solving, with an steep learning curve -that is not detrimental- because once learned, translates into extra powerful command of many other capable plugins in the family with the same Gui, plus all with excellent sound quality.
In sum both sides share good points... therefore implementations that take both accounts will pbbly fare better.
///More from the guessing hat: Yes, keep Mxxx valuable base, but "separated" in LEGO functional modules by grouping its basic functions (modulation, multichannel band splitting, copying/leveling/comparing, etc., etc.) and sell them in blocks. This way potential buyers with moderate expense limit, will have a way to acquire MaXX, then MbXX and lastly McXXX for.. EUR70 each, forming MXXX in stages to which we will add our existing Melda plugin licenses.
Such modular growth would also set the path for future developments and new functionality to be add later, providing a way for us to pay for each new module.

- I've been pushing the request feature for MXXX being able to load external Vst's for some time, (+standalone capacity).
Sure, this might bring in some incompatibilities, or unstabilities... but this feature would make it the be all end all tool for efficiently creating effect chains with full modulation and midi control and recallable presets.
Many people have stated the Reverb is the achilles' heel of the melda bundle and i agree, i can't do without the valhalla reverbs and that's why it would be important for me to be able to load external vst's in MXXX (also GRM Tools).
So to me, MXXX comes close, but it can't really replace everything.
- On the "buy modules as you go", i agree it would be great for people to be able to buy what they need in MXXX but i understand things can get really complicated. For example people will load presets just to realise they can't use them because they are missing this or that module. One thing that's interesting with MXXX as a whole, is you can instinctively try things from the list, move them around, and go to places you would not go otherwise... it really works great as the whole package !
