I wonder if Urs and co got any new inspiration for Hive from the other synths at Messe. That new Roland JD-XA looks pretty cool!
You guys said you'd do FM and Sync (^^!). Will you put it a Cross-Mod in there as well?

1. Add 1 new Drawable Osc. That hexagon could be where we you draw the OSC.
2. Osc drift settings. Blue 1 + 2 have this and can add some amazing nuances and character.
3. Distortion/Saturation + Routing. Can add it anywhere on the signal chain. Similar to how in Massive feedback can be added into multiple places of the signal path.
4. Osc 1 + 2 phase offset controls. Basically exactly what Reason's Subtractor does. Create a copy of the Osc and subtract or multiply the phase from original osc. Then you can adjust the phase offset of the copy. Infinitely increases the amount of tones and timbres you can achieve. Makes some really unique sounds.

Yes! Any or all of these would be great. But with the drift, I remember some very cool features in ACE with capacitor leakage or something. Some "little" touch like that would be amazing.SWallace wrote:1. Add 1 new Drawable Osc. That hexagon could be where we you draw the OSC.

Sounds good, use them allSWallace wrote:1. Add 1 new Drawable Osc. That hexagon could be where we you draw the OSC.

For distortion though, add low/high cut on effect (like Spire)

Sort of similar to what was said above about insert points, but if you don't want to do that, then what might still work really well is a distortion control per filter.
I'd really like a great stompbox emulation for 303 acid lines.

Haven't read the thread. But my suggestion for the hexagon would be some kind of x/y morphing vocoder-like thingy.
If that makes sense.

I definitely want many more effects, including more Distortion. I really like Diva's Rotary DistortionAiynzahev wrote:Sort of similar to what was said above about insert points, but if you don't want to do that, then what might still work really well is a distortion control per filter.

Yes! +1.themachinelt wrote:Another suggestion wich might be a little overhead
MSEGS
even 1 mseg would be cool to make some nasty sound modulation with pitch

Just being right-brained and vague here, but food for thought:
When I say a XY morphing vocoder-like thingy, I also mean that you should get the sense that Hive is communicating back to you in some way. You should get the feeling that it's a living thing, like some alien being or cyborg in a Sci-Fi film. Something like that.

I'm liking this talk of an Omnisphere Orb meets Alchemy Performance Pads with some Raw XY action idea. Just something I'd like to chuck onto that fire; the XY pad from RP's Blade.
Blade made Additive synthesis easy(ish) and fast and allows a great deal of control over the internals of a sound.
As Blade has the Harmolator so Hive could have a Supelator (or a superlative even) allowing an x/y esque control (either via midi controller or a traced-pattern recorded, as in Raw, Blade and Omnisphere) of the parameters within the super sounds being made.
Examples? Fading in additional union voices, depth of detune, width of stereo field, control over some of the FX setting such as the delays diffuse setting and the reverb size.
As a personal pipe dream I'd love to see control over some behind the scenes phase distortion. I'm thinking Bazille's Osc and LFO wave selection. So perhaps we select a saw. At 100% the OSC functions as standard, at 0% its a sine (or perhaps matches the sub OSC?) and at 200% perhaps a triangle, or maybe fractalized (packing saws in to the saws that are stacked upon saws) or again maybe matching the sub or perhaps a selectable destination OSC.
And if this is beginning to make the CPU creak, a simple on/off toggle switch for the section would help that.
Oh oh oh. Another plugin that innovatively uses hexagons would be Audio Damage's Axon... not sure how such a thing could run within Hive or if there is any inspiration to be gleaned from such a thing but someone might think of something.

A lot of really interesting ideas Mymble, especially on taking inspiration from Bazille and introducing fractal resonance. Hive already sounds very much like Bazille. While we shouldn't sound too similar to it since we already have Bazille, it might be a bad thing to introduce into Hive. Urs said that he wanted to introduce Sync into Hive and you can certainly get some hard-sync like sounds from Fractal Resonance.
