colin@loomer wrote:I'm also making MIDI mapping a little more intelligent. It's a pain to individually map each step in a step sequencer, so it will now try it's best to detect patterns and offer to auto-complete as necessary. If you map step 1 of a sequencer to CC #4 and step 2 to CC #5, it will automatically offer to map the remaining steps to consecutive CCs starting at CC #6.
Could this also offer various scales etc., for automatic mapping ? Just thinking out loud.

Anyway, perhaps it's close enough that I'll have something to buy for my birthday next month

I'm trying to keep the UI as minimal and uncluttered as possible. With lots of options it's all to easy to fall into either trap of hundreds of visible items cluttering the screen, or having them all hidden away. Neither is ideal.

As a compromise, I'm keeping the UI as dynamic and flexible as possible. Everything can resize and scale, and large portions can be hidden away. For example, in the Mono Note Sequencer editor screenshot below, you can hide away the Controls section with the disclosure triangle, thereby saving yourself prime screen real estate. And access to the controls is only a click away.

Similarly, the main two rows of the mono note sequencer, the pitch in blue and trigger in yellow, will always be visible, whilst only one secondary parameter is visible at a time. Here we see the groove parameter, which shrinks or stretches notes in order to nudge them from the rigid, quantised grid.

The sequencer views themselves can be folded away too; this proves very handy in more complex patches where it is not uncommon to have perhaps twenty or thirty sequencers (particular CV sequencers), so it's useful to impose some kind of order.

hi colin, i actually like urs business model to release a beta with two options: those who want to try the beta before buying receive a special serial number for a time-limited beta and those who have so much believe in your products that they want to buy it directly (maybe at an introductory price) can buy it and receive the final serial number for the product (hope that made sense). i would certainly see myself in the second category and purchase the beta based on my experience with the loomer products i already own (string, shift and sequent).
cheers and really looking forward to TPFKA epoch :)
