Oberheim was one of the big synth makers in the '70s and '80s. Big, fat, lush analog synths. The OB-8 was all over everything in the early '80s. Its brother, the OB-Xa is probably best known for the opening to Van Halen's "Jump."

It's different.

The white room album had this insane church organ riff through it. The radio version was IIRC[1] a little slower, and had a much more trance (in the original sense of the word) style than the album version.

[1] I haven't heard that song in *so* long. :o

Ok, thanks Valley!

Yet I haven´t gotten it confirmed whether or not the sound I made was the right one, so do you think the sound that is being refered to is not the one I made then, but that he means the church organ sound?

Hey Guys! Sorry I was away for a few days. The sound I mean is the stringy sounding one. It gets soloed on the white room version. You cant miss it. HUGE reverb with crowd noises and part of a massive breakdown? It's prolly just something I could get from a preset but it got me real excited and I thought I'd ask on KvR. I'd say it was one of those Oberhiem thingies just doing a string sound?

Just thought I would update and clarify on the KLF's equipment.

In the July Future Music there is an interview with Alex Paterson of The Orb. He mentioned specifically that Jim Cauty owned an OB-X and an Akai S-750. I believe those were the two instruments KLF used to produce about 95% of their sounds.

And now back to your regularly-scheduled debauchery...
