Regretting Migrating to T6

I previously reported that aAfter updating T6 from T5 I lost all my projects in the browser.

I currently need to restore a project to the browser, open it and continue to work on it.

This is a project that has been worked on quite often in the past several months as I had to change the keys a few times to accommodate different lead singers trying the song out. Within the project folder I have edits in the key of C, F, G and A

First I used the standard Win7 browser to find the project folder. As expected, the folder is heavily populated with .wav files, a dozen edits, and a single project file.

I open T6, and from the project tab I clik "Open Project" and navigate to the project folder that I just had located and had just had confirmed was populated by all the wav files and edit files.

When I reach the project folder with the T6 browser which only "sees" project files, I see that there is one project file. OK, I guess.

I clik on it and the project opens but only a few edits appear. Where are all my edits in the keys of F, G and A?

I quickly look at the same folder with the Win7 browser and all my edits are there. Now what?

I try clicking on an edit file in the Win7 browser after confirming that it is associated with T6. Nothing.

My edits are orphaned now. How do I open those edits?

BTW: Dragging the edits from the Win7 browser into the listed Edits portion of the T6 open project window will permit the moving of the edit file, however when you open the edit, the tracks have the files missing.

The project file contains the list of all the media including Edits, audio files imported and audio recordings made.

The easiest way to open a project is to make sure it is closed in Tracktion (right click the project in the panel at the left of the Projects tab and click "Close this Project". Then drag the project ("*.tracktion" file) onto the Projects tab.

This should then reload the project, list it in the side panel and display any contained media when you select the project in the projects list. You should see all the Edit and audio files that have ever been visible.

You can't just drag Edit files into a project because they use the project to locate their audio files etc. You have to archive Edits and then import them if you want them to move projects.

If you can't see some Edits you are expecting in the list, it sounds like they're just not in the project file. Are you sure you're not loading an old version or the project file hasn't become corrupt somehow?

Amen.

I "snuck in the back door" of T6 and was able to archive the orphaned edit.

I dragged the orphaned edit file to the edit list section of an open project.

I then highlighted the edit file as listed and archived it.

I found the edit archive file and dragged it to a memorable location on the hard drive.

Then I went to the T6 Open Project button, navigated to the edit archive file and opened it. All tracks and files, etc perfectly restored.
