I am in the central US... I happen to work remotely, from home, so I was able to get a ton of work done yesterday and then do the download today. Some really sweet sounding stuff in there, for sure. I do wish, however, that Eric would start including some more 'traditional' instruments - I would love some awesome Omnisphere-quality pianos, EPs, woodwinds, etc., that could help me go software only and dump my hardware instruments for good. As it stands now, I am looking to sell several of my hardware pieces and invest in an Integra-7, which probably has a lot of Eric's legacy sounds in it, too.
I don't know how many of the people downloading here are in Europe, where it is evening, but my guess is that the servers are really going to get slammed when the people in the US start coming home from work. Later, when it is 9pm in the eastern US, 8pm in the central US, and 6pm in the western US - there are going to be a TON of people hitting that Spectrasonics site.

It was a very different situation and you know it very well.Numanoid wrote:Too bad your mom wasn't around when we did that ADM deal last year.
Then I was told to be patient, only took three weeks or so to get the goods transferred then.

I even got flak for trying to get in touch with AR on facebook.

Yes EXACTLY my point! They haven't prepared enough bandwidth.Mystic wrote:Because crap happens?
Yes and I don't think that is good enough considering the upgrade price, time to prepare the download from initiale press release and hype etc.Mystic wrote:That's the best they can do.
That was a hilarious comment. That's like saying to a customer that ordered a new car, hey we found out that half of our new cars are malfunctioning. Would you please be so kind to take a broken one so some other guy can get one that's workingMystic wrote:If you actually want to help out with it, stop trying to hit the servers to download it every 3 minutes.
I'm happy that you are not providing the service. Then I would expect it to arrive at christmas time. And I'll state my opinion about this or other things when I want to. It's not your job to dictate what other people should state or not just because you disagree.Mystic wrote: BTW, in west coast USA, there is still 11 hours left on April 30th so chances are you'll be able to download it at some point on April 30th. Take the entitlement elsewhere. Just makes you seem like an impatient arse.

I've just been making my way through the new presets.... there are a ton of them.... it sounds like....sempondr wrote:To lucky few who got it up and running: What's the initial impression?
Omnisphere.
I haven't even begun to dip into the parameters yet, but I am definitely hearing some new and creative sounds that probably could not have been made with the Omni 1 engine.
Also - and this is just an initial impression... There is definitely an effort to appeal to guys doing EDM, dub, and some other more hardcore electronic genres. That's just my sense based on playing through about 75 of the new sounds (and I have MANY more to go).
Some of the ARP/BPM sounds are very cool. Very complex layerings all around.
Having paid $499 (?) originally, and now another $249, I've got almost $750 invested in this software instrument. That's not chump change, although there's no doubt that Omnisphere is my favorite software instrument so far. But it is still a lot of coin for software.
