I have exactly the same problem. If only they would want to hand me that downloader today I could be happy but I'm afraid we have to wait the entire weekend.topaz wrote:won't work. it needs the download manager that is in the confirmation email that we did not receive.
we are missing about 20gb of files.
im installed and authorised but omni makes no sound. basically omni is broken right now.
Poor show from spectrasonics.. they are set to make $millions out of this upgrade.. the very least they could of done is make sure they had enough staff/server power to deal with the inevitable.
riley4reason wrote:the 129MB download asks to insert Omnisphere before installing, I click cancel and it seems to install anyway. I'll try inserting the v1 disk when I get to my desktop with a CDROM. Has anyone else already tried that?
Omnisphere 2 is here! (yes, it's really here!)

I was very surprised when they announced that the upgrade was download only.AstralExistence wrote:digital distribution with large files is hit or miss. this was obviously a big miss.
My initial thought was that they'd sold a lot fewer copies of Omnisphere than I would have guessed. You always see Omnisphere mentioned on forums when people list their favorite software instruments, and has always seemed to me like it has been a hugely successful product. I figured that if they could handle these massive downloads of upgrades and new purchases, that the market must be smaller than I'd assumed.
But I don't think that is the case. Who knows what the numbers are, but I think Spectrasonics has sold a sh*tload of copies of Omnisphere over the years. And I think that with all of the hype that the number of people trying to upgrade/buy yesterday was easily in the thousands. They got slammed.

Yesterday I was having problems with the download stalling. Today everything downloaded, installed and authorized without a hitch. The update is excellent so far, I can't wait to spend more time checking it out.

oh, so it means it's available for download. All they need to do is give me the installer (because probably nobody else is allowed to just putst it somewhere on dropbox for me

i want or tried to defend Spectrasonics... but this is pretty bad... what were they thinking... but on the bright side... i would bet Spectrasonic covered their development cost yesterday...

Yeh, first time ever a company sold a product you download and ran out of product
I'm still miffed that they didn't release it first to VIP users (I have all 3
) espicialy as we hardly get any discount...could have at least given us a week head start and it would have been a soft opening for the launch...

When they announced that upgrades were going to be downloadable I smelled trouble. Not trouble this bad, but trouble none the less. I have to say they botched this one. I thought I circumvented the trouble by buying a "boxed" version of the upgrade from a retailer, but now I'm told that there is no boxed upgrade and I'm just going to get a serial number and download link. I really hope they're wrong about that.SLiC wrote:Yeh, first time ever a company sold a product you download and ran out of product![]()

I'm not sure what Spectrasonics was thinking. Sure, offer a download for those who want it, but for what they're paying for bandwidth, get some CDROMs made and offer that too. They don't even have to be different than the full version, just bundle it with a second "upgrade" installer for those who have a v1 serial number. This way people with slower, or no, internet connection or just people who don't want to deal with having their internet tied up all day would have a choice and people who want to download wouldn't be fighting so many other people.

I bought the "boxed" upgrade from Sweetwater. All that came was a thin envelope with an upgrade code, no DVDs and no coupons for a discount towards some sort of "USB installer" (see here).zerocrossing wrote:I thought I circumvented the trouble by buying a "boxed" version of the upgrade from a retailer, but now I'm told that there is no boxed upgrade and I'm just going to get a serial number and download link. And lastly, the download I received is only good for one full download of the update (about 19GB). That's a big download and I can't burn to DVD. I'm probably going to purchase a 32GB USB stick and put it in my Omni 1 box to make sure I don't lose it to hard drive failure.

After the hiccups of the first few minutes (totally expected), and the confusion of the download link in the email, not the one in my account, being the only working one (lame, but quickly sorted, thanks to noiseboyuk's sterling post), I thought it went very well. 6MB/sec download speeds, seamless install. Maybe I'm just feeling spoiled because I'm still waiting -- days later -- for a fix for my non-working Rapture Pro install.zerocrossing wrote:When they announced that upgrades were going to be downloadable I smelled trouble.
