Does anyone know if the updater requires a certain port to be open in order to download it? A lot of people say they did it overnight but I tried multiple times to connect between 12-5am and still couldn't get on.

I always get shafted with these things. ALWAYS!
However, not this time! Was awake last night at an odd time, and managed the whole download/authorisation in one dizzyingly exciting flourish. Well, in about an hour, but still.... It is installed and authorised, is the point...
I have never been more smug. And that is saying something. But I feel for all those who haven't got it yet... I honestly do, as that would normally be me.
Oh and the software itself? Yeah it's passable (LOLLZA)
Working fine in Bitwig. Only note is that I had a moment of confusion where the plug wouldn't load at all, like not even as original Omni, just didn't do anything, but realised this was because I made a custom VST folder for Bitwig, so that had the old Omni DLL in it. Omni 2 installed in the default location (Steinberg?) so had to copy it over for Bitwig. That won't be an issue for most, kinda obvious in retrospect, but I did have a moment of saying to myself "Arghhh! Thought I was doing so well, but now I can't even get original Omnisphere working. Damn it all to Hell."

I didn't have a certain port open, but the downloader would stall on one of my PC's with 5 GB left no matter how many times I tried. My laptop downloaded the entire thing without any issues whatsoever on the first try.

Something else to add to the list of things that Spectrasonics don't do well... along with license transfers.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Yeah, it must have been quite a surprise for them to see how much customers of omnisphere they have.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

So far i'm happy. Seems no new multis? Some nice phrases in the sound sources like the asian string stuff and some good voice phrases too. I also load some of my field recordings (woodspecker and some other nature sounds) into it and it's great what you can do with even one sample. (.... of course it can't beat the good old Alchemy here).
The EDM stuff sounds great too but i'm not so interested in it. But it's nice to lock the patches and just change the sound sources.
Any wish for some special demo sounds?

I am still curious about the grace period purchase. I have received no word, no code, no email, and my account says I can do v1 updates only. Yet I purchased at the end of January.
Does anyone know what I should expect, or has anyone who made a grace period purchase received anything yet?
Edit- I have sent Spectrasonics emails to no avail.

You should have received the "boxed" serial, no? Did you try to register it? You know there's a button in the user account for this: "Add a product to your account."thejonsolo wrote:I am still curious about the grace period purchase. No, as said i tried to update this morning the system said that my serial is not eligible for v2 which is not true since i bought v1 boxed a month ago. After that the tecshop closed. I got a robot-text answer which had nothing to do with my problem.thejonsolo wrote:I am still curious about the grace period purchase. The music industry is finally adopting online downloading of huge files. Long time that they were kinda afraid of it but the technology is there. But they have to streamline it. For waves plugins it's not so bad because the whole collection is maybe a gigabyte, and it has it's own authorisation center.
They need to make it flexible enough to allow for off - studio pc downloads because not everyone appreciates their studio pc being connected to the internet. This is where in the case of omnisphere (in combination with the download) it's sorely lacking.
When soundsonline starts their "composers cloud" and I could even download entire kontakt libraries, i think the time is ready but they need a robust system.
In the games world, everyone has either steam, origin or uplay (or battle.net if you have blizzard games). It works near flawlessly. But the music industry is more fragmented in that way. They can't like offer their stuff to one distribution client so they all have to make their own system. Which will mature in time I hope.

Yes I received a v1 boxed serial. It was registered on January 31, 2015 at Spectrasonics.elassi wrote:You should have received the "boxed" serial, no? Did you try to register it? If I choose to "add product" it says it is already added, and it was...back in January. I have NO v2 serial, nor did one come in the box I ordered. I initially assumed that it would just "magically" appear in my account on April 30th. Either that or an email that said because I had registered within the grace period I was eligible for the upgrade (and then give me a new serial).
But none of this has happened, and I have not read of anyone who was a grace period purchaser receiving anything.
My issue has nothing to do with bandwidth. I just have no course of action except to be patient while they work out their other issues. ha.

If I'm recalling correctly, you got yours from Sweetwater, correct? You know what kind of weight they can throw. Worst case, your rep can probably get them on it pronto next week.thejonsolo wrote:Yes I received a v1 boxed serial.
