abique wrote: I added an option --no-presets ;-)
This is something like:

Code: Select all

if test "$NO_PRESETS" -eq 1 ; then
        find "$HOME/.u-he/$PRODUCT/Presets/$PRODUCT/" \
          \( -type f -a -iname '*.h2p' -a -not -iname 'initialize.h2p' -a -delete \) \
          -o \( -empty -a -delete \)
fi
That is a very dangerous flag as it's written today. Imagine this workflow:

1. user installs Zebra without --no-presets to get the factory presets.
2. user customizes the preset directories and makes several custom presets
3. an update comes out and the user wants to upgrade Zebra2 but doesn't want the update to fill the directory with the original factory sounds.
4. user sees --no-presets flag and installs the new update using it.
5. *poof* all presets except one(s) names initialize are deleted.

I'd recommend naming that flag --rm-installed-presets at the very least.

Thx abique, but i have to second bmrzycki, it should be renamed or a check for older files via timestamp should be included.

For me it is fine, i do not save my own presets. I basically use soft synths like hardware without any total recall. ;)

Post

OK, instead of running that find/delete on the target installation directory, I can run it on the source one ;-)

Should that option also removes presets for Zebra OSC?

Post

Cool, sounds legit.

I do not own or use zebra, so i choose to not vote here. ;)

Abique, it would have been sweet with a changelog on what's new between the builds - if that is data that you already got and is easily published.

Post

Sorry but do not expect a detailed ChangeLog; yet you can try to ask Urs for it.
I try to summarize what I changed when I upload a new version here in this thread.

By all means Abique, just the "headlines" was what I had in mind, the main changes/improvements.

Exactly, that'd be a very interesting read!
Only if/when you got the time of course. :)

Post

OK, maybe I can do something then!

Post

Abique,

will you port the Uhbik bundle as well ?
Maybe you already did, but i missed it ?

Keep up that great work. Thanks :D

Post

Beerhunter, maybe you're too good at hunting :wheee: because Uhbik is already there ;-)

Thank you for the compliment :)

How about ZebraCM, Zebralette, TripleCheese and Tyrell ? Copyright issues maybe ?
You can't always get what you waaaant...

I can't explain the issue because I don't understand it 100%. But I did not receive the "GO" to release those synths. Otherwise they're working well on Linux.

Contractual agreements aside, the U-he prices are pretty reasonable,
and a good test of the linux audio collective's willingness to purchase
high quality commercial software. The free or magware instruments
work in wine/reaper, and the Zebra demo restriction is very generous, and provides
Zebralette during the installation, so one can learn some Zebra while saving
for the full version. Of course the purchase choices themselves may not be easy 8)
Cheers

Thanks abique for the new updates. Everything Works very well. I have installed them yesterday. Was very easy and all presets are still in place.

Thanks for your work.

As well in the excellent Airwave utility.

Yes it does, and that little synth performs beautifully. Along with Podolski, that's two Linux freebies from u-he.
Of course the purchase choices themselves may not be easy
The only downside I've discovered about u-he products. I'm currently agonizing over "Diva or Bazille". :)

Best,
