I bought Zebra 2 eight and a half years ago(!). I've since received all Zebra updates for free. I bought the parallel ZebraHZ version during that time, for a reasonable sum, and now I know even the upgrade to the upcoming Zebra 3 will be without any additional cost. That will add up to way more than a decade's worth of support with a very modest annual cost, if you want to divide the overall sum that way.
Bundled or not, I think the u-he policy is very fair, also considering the top quality of the products. So, paying more up front (again, still a very reasonable amount considering what you get) and then receiving support and up to date versions for a loooong time. It's nice.

Yup, definitely every U-He product is double its worth.Guenon wrote:I bought Zebra 2 eight and a half years ago(!). I've since received all Zebra updates for free. I like that u-he doesn't offer bundles and discounts. it lends credibility to the company and products. and if they had to (for revenue) they would. so from a revenue perspective, they don't have to apparently. I wouldn't want all plug companies to do this however otherwise I'd not have some of the amazing tools I have now. but I am all for u-he maintaining it's current policy. also if they do change it then they are going to have a lot of past customers upset about it. but I doubt that's any part of the reason. and, their products are worth their asking price, IMHO. you can get good deals on u-he products by buying a license transfer from someone else.

I don't think arguing for a complete bundle would be a statement that their pricing is unfair as it is. And i don't think that is ever the case when arguing for stuff like that. It's just a business decision which u-he have to know whether they take it or not. I don't think anyone will or could complain if they don't. The question for them will probably be how many copies more they sell that way, and if it's worth it, and even whether they're looking to increase their customer base or not.Guenon wrote: Bundled or not, I think the u-he policy is very fair

On the contrary I'd rather see Uhbik get un-bundled than see any larger bundles.

We're open for bundles, unbundling, even renting and such. We're just also a team that's very focussed on those little tasks that surround our current topics. Tasks that concern the bigger picture are usually left aside or postponed. We want to change that, but that in itself is one of latter tasks.

as someone who currently owns a decent number of u-he products (zebra 2, filterscape, uhbik, ace, bazille) I certainly wouldn't feel "ripped off" if u-he starting offering a bundle, as long as there was a "complete your bundle" pricing that would let existing users like myself upgrade to the full package (presumably being able to continue to use that feature in the future to get a discount on each new release)
