Mxxx release

am I correct in assuming that there is not going to be any way to use this framework without owning the total bundle? I'm gonna make a boatload of presets and hope I can win a license, but I would gladly buy mxxx with just the ability to use the plugins I already own in it. It seems like this product would sell for 100 to 150 even for people to just use the free bundle inside it. It seems a shame to limit it to only people who have the total bundle since even though I own a crazy amount of melda plugins the rest of the product in the total bundle hold no appeal to me as they do things which I've already got covered by stuff from other companies. If I had a time machine I would have gone all in with melda and not bought a giant waves bundle. Having both is a bit much. If there is any way to make a version of Mxxx that comes with the free bundle plugins and then allows you to use any other melda plugins you have licenses for I think it would generate a large number of sales.
Anyway, I'm having a great time with the beta. There aren't enough plugins that allow for insane feedback paths in the world.
Sorry for the rant. Are there details about a preset designing contest somewhere?

Hi JJ,
it has been discussed in another thread. Basically right now it's just for MTotalBundle, the future is not yet defined
. But 150 EUR is out of question - think of it this way, just the magnificent MSpectralDynamics inside it costs 199 EUR. So the proce would be more like 399 EUR intro slowly increasing to, well, a lot
. It basically overloads all our plugins, so...
There's been the discussion about "enabling the plugins you own". But there are technical problems and marketing problems - to unlock "flanger" you'd have to own MMultiBandFlanger. That's ok, but not exactly obvious. Then there is the problem with presets - what if you'd open a preset, that contains a plugin you don't own... Again, solvable, but in not exactly "awesme" way... So it's more likely that first there will be the preset contest and then...
The contest hasn't started yet, but will soon. Basically the only thing needs to be done is some information & tutorial. MPowerSynth action was successful, yet many people didn't again read instructions, so it was a tedious work with many... With MXXX no errors will be tolerated

I meant charge that price to allow a user to use the melda plugins they already own inside the mxxx framework. Not to include every plugin for a couple hundred bucks. Like I for instance own the upgraded free bundle, the creative bundle, and three of the mix plugins. I'd happily give you two hundred dollars to be able to use these plugins and no extra ones inside the mxxx plugin. I'm not asking you to give away all your hard work.

I can't wait for the preset contest either. Actually I have a few questions. I've been waiting for Mspectraldynamics to go on sale again. I need noise removal, and after testing it tonight it seems to do just what I need it to do. I noticed that there is a Mspectraldynamicsmini included with MSD. Is this just a little bonus with less controls or will you be releasing this as a separate plugin in the future. Personally the mini does pretty much what I need, but I don't know if it's available separately. If the contest starts soon, hopefully I'll be able to win a MXXX license and this won't be a problem. Are the instructions similar to what we had to do for MPS?

Upgrade prices for current customers based on products already owned could work.
Eg I own Creative, Mpowersynth, Mdrummer and the paid for free bundle.
I have no intention of getting the 'All' bundle as I already have too many 'mixing' plugins.
I'm lucky to have an older version of the Mxxx beta that the beta licence still supports

Ah_Diz: That's pretty much the other model I'm thinking about, but as I said there are quite a few problems...
Chandlerhimself: The MSDmini is just part of MSpectralDynamics, it's simply a version with less controls for those, who don't have a high resolution display.
MXXX preset making: Soon folks, there will be instructions, that's pretty much the thing I'm waiting for...

Let me request that instructions include a little guidance about presets that appear in the browser when you click the preset field vs. the presets that appear in the top window when in non-edit mode. In my early bungled attempts at learning MXXX, I ended up struggling with what the deal was in this area. I'm still not sure I have it down. For one thing, I found the location of the presets in the non-Edit-mode browser window, but I cannot find the other presets anywhere. Is what I'm writing here even making sense? Hopefully I'm not the only one confused over this aspect of MXXX.MeldaProduction wrote:MXXX preset making: Soon folks, there will be instructions, that's pretty much the thing I'm waiting for...

Yes I understand very well, the current state is kind of "hybrid", I shall explain it then.

I tested MXXX last night, and I was very positively surprised about the concept.
Why not do it this way:
Create MXXX "Loaded" and "MXXX Basic".
The basic version is pretty much what you get with all he freeware/pro plugins. And we all have to admit, they're great to boot with.
The "loaded" version could be the one that comes bundled with "Total" - something i'll never be able to afford I'm affraid, neither do I need a lot of these plugins.
BASIC could then be sold for (let's say) 100 bucks, but also unlocks the Free Plugins to "Pro".
"Loaded" could be "bundled" with TOTAL, or an upgrade for 199 for all other users.
But it is essential that the engine needs to(!) recognize what licenses you already have at your disposal.
Maye you introduce a system into the preset loader, that shows what modules were used. And those that are not "unlocked" will be greyed out. IKM does it with Amplitube, Line6 does it with PODFarm.
It is a creative tool after all.
Else... if people can't afford MXXX, or if it's not planned to be released for "casual users" (like me) anytime soon, maybe think about outsourcing the the "modular essential modules". So that users that have Modular Environments already can benefit from that as well.
PRESET DESIGN CONTEST is a nice idea. But I'll probably be kicked out among the flood of good sound designers.

Yeah, well, complicated stuff it is...
And don't be intimidated by "sound designers", after all I don't think many sound designers ever did anything like that

Again, if you release Mxxx BASIC and this unlocks all MFree stuff (and the "routing modules") - I'm on board.
If you release the routing modules independent as well for non Mxxx Modular users, I'd also be game.
But in the end, it's your company. You decide what's ultimately happening.

That's impossible - think of it this way - the free bundle contains pretty much all the modulation effects etc., that would be effectively removing need for MMultiBandAutopan, MMultiBandPhaser etc... for 100 bucks... that's out of question. The only possibility I'm thinking at the moment to be honest is unlocking Phase FX if licence to MMultiBandPhaser is present for example...

You created a monster, and the monster is only available to those that invest several hundred. Personally, I don't need(!) all the multiband stuff - keep it "basic" (see what I did there?!). It's still not the same if you create your own "multiband FX" out of it (not the same GUI, not the same workflow).
As you said - the free bundle almost has all modulation effects (not all, mind you). So even a 150-200USD pricetag wouldn't work for you, (you still make plus if you unlock the Free plugins to Pro). And at this stage, the "split modules" won't be released either (another free bundle, or one for 25bucks).
My conclusion - Mxxx is nothing for me, sorry.
Glad that I only played for 5 minutes with it.

I had another variation on the idea for Mxxx.
Create a version that "unlocks" the plug-ins that you own including the bundles and one offs. Release the presets. People can pay to have preset player only versions of their particular missing plug-ins. The player versions would only allow minimal tweaking. Build in an instant online activation to pay for the full version if the user wants the full functionality of the plug-in. My guess is that your audience will find themselves purchasing upgrades as they get deeper into the product.
I agree with others here. I own the creative bundle, the upgraded free bundle + one mix plugin. I have too many other bases covered with Universa Audio, NI, Softube and Waves to purchase the Total bundle in order to get the Mxxxx. - Scotty
