Problems Scanning Plugin's - T6

I have been dreading this move for quite awhile but finally upgraded my old Vista computer to a new Windows 8 - 12 Gb ram computer and upgraded from T2 to T6. All of my VST's/Soundsets etc are on two separate backup hard drives.

I re-downloaded some of my IK Multimedia VST's (Sampletank 2.5, Sonik Synth2, Amplitube 3) direct from the website. However, I get the following error messages: "The following files appeared to be plugin files but failed to load correctly." and "Deactivated after failing to load correctly."

After trying some others such as EZ Drummer 1 and Pod Farm/Gearbox with the same result, I am at a loss about how to proceed. I have tried to download the 32 bit VST's to the: VST Plugins (X86) folder and the 64 bit versions to the: VST plugins folder, both on the C-Drive. I also tried dragging some of the dll's from the backup drive to the VST plugins folders to save time in re-downloading. But that did not work either.

Here is what I would ultimately like to do:
Run T6 in 64 bit and use jbridge for any 32 bit VST's to maximize my new computer's resources.
And/Or - set up a 32 bit version of T6 in case the jbridge thing doesn't work out properly.

Before I waste anymore of my life on trying to set this up correctly, I am hoping some of you kind souls will point me in the right direction on how to set this up correctly in the first place.

Try T5 to scan your plugins.

I don't know, I think first he maybe has to install some or all of these plugins properly? Sounds like he's just trying to drag them from a backed up VST folder, lots of plugins have dependencies, need to be registered, etc etc, so need to be properly installed.

I have done both - downloaded and drug from backup folder. If they will at least scan in T6, then I can re-register etc. But I cannot even get T6 to recognize them.

I, too, have experienced VST scanning problems in T6. For Windows 8 users, I think it may be related to Windows UAC security settings. Different folders in Windows have different inherited security settings; when the UAC of the app you are running does not match the UAC of other files and folders you are trying to access, Windows system capabilities such as drag-and-drop and named-pipes will not work for the application.

Here is how I came up with this theory: One day, I accidentally installed the T6 upgrade to the default location (C:\Program Files\Tracktion 6) instead of a custom location which I normally install to; the end-result being that I had two copies of 64-bit Tracktion installed on my Windows 8 machine. Before the installer completed, it allowed me the option to run T6 immediately. Upon doing so, T6 presented me with the prompts one normally sees when running T6 for the first time after a clean install. When I brought up the plugins tab in T6, none of my previously-registered VST plugins were listed, so I decided to run the re-scan VST plugins command again, and a strange thing happened. This time, T6 registered all of the VST plugins it normally failed on with the message "The following files appeared to be plugin files but failed to load correctly."; it also failed to register all of the other VST plugins it normally has no problem registering; I'm wondering if this is because those VST plugins were already registered by the other installation of T6 located in my preferred install folder (not the default location under Program Files).

First of all, do the IK Multimedia plugins (sampletank, sonic synth, atmosphere) already work as standalones?

In other words, have you authorised them, using the IK Multimedia auth manager?
Because you'll struggle to get anything working till you do that. Make sure they work as standalone, before trying to get the VST versions to work.

Then you'll need to run Tracktion 6 32 bit version, AS ADMINISTRATOR (right click the 32bit tracktion.exe file, or it's shortcut shortcut, choose "Run as Administrator")

Then scan this folder, if you've installed the IK Multimedia programs to their default location;

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins

This should get those plugs working for you (check which dlls are in that folder)
You want them to have names like "AmpliTube 3.dll"

Just re-read your email;

You *must* run the IK Multimedia installers again for the IK Multimedia programs, not just copy a dll to a folder, and try to scan that dll.
That isn't going to work.

Then you have to run the Authorisation Manager, to license them on that machine.

Well, tried the 'run as administrator' trick, but a few plugins still refuse to reactivate. any one else had any problems with some arturia plugins? There are a few others in the list, but the only ones that I care about would be Matrix 12 vst3 and 2 and solina vst 2 or 3 or jupiter 8 and spark vst 2. solina I swear worked once. OK, maybe I also care a bit for synthmaster. and komplete kontrol. In fact, there are a few reasonably popular synths that don't activate!
