I run dual Dell UltraSharp U2410's [16:10], and prefer whatever gets me closest to a 4:3 ratio, personally.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

It has so many sound, you can combine them in new ways and thus create new sounds. The M1 has become my main synth because it has such a pleasant sound. I prefer even the basic waveforms such as saw to those of the usual subtractive synths. There is something juicy and present to the sound that is missing with most plugins. I guess I just like that it is not authentically analog.deft_bonz wrote:M1 is definitely only for "known and overused" sampler sounds. But there are times these sounds just nail it perfectly.
M1's sounds are for a lack of a better word, compact. Maybe that is why they keep their character in the mix, while real synth sounds often sound different in the mix or even get more or less lost.

Man, this zombie thread has really managed to keep going! You guys are nuts!
The crazy thing is my old MS-20 Legacy Collection Controller seems to have doubled in value since when I bought it.

That's good to hear! I may sell mine one day. If they update their vst plugins one day, I'm sure it'll be worth even more.Uncle E wrote:Man, this zombie thread has really managed to keep going! You guys are nuts!

It's actually a pretty special piece of gear. It's the time a vst maker has made a controller to go along with the software with all original controls. Even cables. There was that one company making imposcar controllers but that was much more pricey. I wish more developers would follow korgs lead there.

KLC definitely kicks butt. I like the MonoPoly the best - a true underrated gem that can now be had by itself for $50 USD. I wish Korg would update the GUI's, though. That small text is hard to read.

right on fluffy. come on.... overused sampler sounds? gimme a break. how many other vst synths have 8 stackable 2 oscillator per program performance modes? it was a problem with the hardware M1 because of the 16 note polyphony. but the KLC M1 has 256! i've been making pad sounds like crazy with it. no overused universe patches over here..... and then theres the added resonance that was missing badly on the hardware M1. then theres the speed in which you can browse sounds. and all the patches it can read from the thousands available on the net as sysex. the M1 is like the crescent wrench in my toolbox.... a MUST have.fluffy_little_something wrote:It has so many sound, you can combine them in new ways and thus create new sounds. I bought the original Legacy Collection with the controller for about £200, when it was on sale years ago. It got loads of use but I rarely load them up now and the controller has sat in the box for years. I use the patch cables on my DIY modular instead.
Though if they were to release a full on MSxx modular package, featuring the MS10, MS20, MS50, sequencer, vocoder, and all the odd extra addons, plus a mod for the MS20 LFO to go into audio range, using updated DSP technology to sound more in line with current standards, that would be pretty awesome.

P.S. more on topic, i agree with the statement about korg M1, huge possibilities (almost omnispheric !!!)

I'm with everyone on the too-small GUI and wanting to see more updates and more legacy synths added to the collection. Not expecting anything. I was shocked 64-bit was given to us.
I love the collection. I have the replica MS-20 controller too. Great fun. Only downside is the stepping on the low res MIDI.

I would love to see Korg pick up all of these killer little VST's and put them in to one 'rack' type plug with a larger GUI (same as |I would with Arturia),
Personally I would happily pay for an update, the small GUI makes it almost impossible to use an my 4K monitor.
