Has anyone tried the e-mu 0404 with Tracktion? I just want to know if they work ok together... It is after all way cheaper than the alternatives. Problem is that, being new to the market, there is slim information on any fofums I've visited...
A simple soundcard question

Wow man that is so insincere and unfriendly. Def Dave, you and chico and all the other abusive miscreants on this forum are truly doing Tracktion and its users a disservice by treating people this way. Right or wrong, would-be Tracktion users judge the software quality (in part) based on the support and community they find here. If you want Tracktion to remain commercially viable, then be a responsible "forum citizen" and treat people as you would be treated.Def Dave wrote:I don't want to be rude but are you blind?

In simple terms, be nice or stfu.

I can see your point, but I think that my answer wasn't so harsh at all... Also the question is quite useless if a few topics below his thread you can easily find the answer. Within other forums or usegroups one would be crashed for a question like this... All I did was asking him if he was blind.bithead wrote:Wow man that is so insincere and unfriendly.
But to you are right.
@meahos: Please excuse my rude behavior!

I hear that said about Fruity as well, but it seems to be selling pretty well, and for sure the cubase forums can be anything *but* freindly.

So to paraphrase, that's: "On the other forums, everybody is an asshole, so it's okay to be an asshole on here too."
WANTED: one ticket on the clue train, to donate to a deserving individual.
Being nice to people costs nothing. Simply posting the link with no venomous comments attached would have answered meahos' question and given him no reason to dislike Tracktion or this forum. (except maybe that it won't work well with his emu card...which of course is a separate and factual issue.)
You might be wondering, what right I have to preach about this? Go read studio-central and you'll find sane discourse between obviously intelligent reasoning people. In contrast, on here it seems like every other post is laced with strychnine or is wildly OT. I wouldn't care except that I REALLY LIKE TRACTION AND I WANT IT TO CONTINUE TO BE DEVELOPED. Scare off enough prospective buyers, and presto, no more Tracktion.
Furthermore, comparing Tracktion and FruityLoops is not valid. They are widely different products which serve completely different needs. T is looking to compete directly against three or more well-entrenched high end (high priced) professional DAW packages, whereas FL has always been targeted at the low end.
Like it or not, we are all Tracktion ambassadors. Best to be nice and helpful, or be quiet. Let's all strive for community, not division.

I would argue that 95% or more of users out there in general (can't speak to Tracktion, which probably grew partially based on forum exposure before moving into regular marketing) don't even sign up for forums or use them.
To Joe Computer User, a forum is a strange dark place where answers to questions hide in dank little nooks and crannies, and where faceless entities stare from beyond the firewall with beady yellow eyes.
Although it may feel like it sometimes, we are NOT the standard. Average users will still go the e-mail or phone call route for customer support.
[edit: although I also meant to mention that due directly to the point I just made, sometimes new users WILL ask some obvious or simple questions, because they don't know jack about forum culture or procedure. It's not fair to assume that everybody is as aware of forum methodology.]

I have to say, I am a bit pissed with the intitial responce that def dave gave to my question. Maybe he wants to check the time that the thread he refers to was posted! I was in the process of putting in my own thread when it came up and so I could not have seen it. This is not blindness! But you responce, placed with a lack of attention on your part may well be! Incidentally, rudeness and intolerant behaviour is a choice we all have, blindess is not! Which were you suffering from when you posted your reply?
Bithead, thanks for your support and words of wisdom - we join here together to benifit our community and to support a great sequencer. Twatish behaviour will bread twatish behaviour and hey, defo, you never know what other folks are posting when you'll be putting up your next thread. Just hope that it is not an answer to the very question you're asking or else others like you will treat you with the intolerance you are helping to breed here...

but the thread Def Dave referred to probably was even closer to the top of this forum when you started your own thread so the argument you are using to defend yourself can only be used against you.
I for one indeed think that people should check at least the first page of a forum if there is already a similar thread going on before they start a new one in order to not uneccessarily clutter the forum.

You seem to be forgetting that rudeness was the issue here.
You are also unaware that I may have been having problems with the server which would have prevented me seeing the other thread while I was posting mine... How could you know this, you were not sitting here while I was doing it!! Should you expect abuse for not knwoing what is going on elsewhere?
It is all details, details now. We can keep going on and on and on about this and keep wasting our time if we choose to. The way I see it though is this, we have a choice to treat this forum and its users with respect so that we all feel confident to seek advice among our peers or we can simply treat both with contempt and nit-pick our way through it. Threads of nothing, such as this is turning out to be, is the only thing we can then hope for from this forum.
The point I am making is that for whatever reason, and I know it was because I was getting hung up by the server, I was not aware of any other thread that answered my question. Had I known I would not have wasted my own time asking now would I?
As far as I am concerned, Dave has been gracious enough to do the right thing, and I respect that. Incidentaly, given that Dave actually replied helpfully to the same question I asked on the other thread, I am gueseing that he is comfortable in giving me the responce he gave and for which I am gratefull.
