Wanted to check in here, and let folks know that the Windows open beta is going -- so far, seems like people have gotten things working, but please let us know at support@musicioapp.com if you have some sort of trouble. The Windows stuff is at http://www.musicioapp.com/windows

The MIDI-only version of Music IO will be free during the open beta, so you can try stuff out risk-free.

On Windows, you only need to install the VST -- it does everything, no external server. We may move that direction for OS X too. The PC VST will be getting some UI updates, multiple audio channels, and probably multiple devices, in the not too distant future.

I just tried the latest PC beta and it's amazing. No glitching in either instrument or loop modes with a totally playable low latency. Couldn't get Amplitube (new version) or BIAS to work, but Jam-up and almost everything else I tried did including the new Korg M1 (a blast from the past for me!). I'm sure these issues will get ironed out over time.

IMO, there's a few operational details that need to be improved, like getting MIDI directly from the host, implementing Instrument and Effect versions of the plugin, and chaining more than one FX per loop, but it's a beta and already very usable as is.

Bottom line: it's a perfectly functional way of integrating iPad audio into a conventional DAW and completely obviates having to use a sound card to link Audio and MIDI to and from the iPad. Simply impressive. :tu:

Don't forget, you can also use all the awesome iPad midi controllers to play synths in your DAW....
