WARNING ABOUT AUTOMATIC NI SERVICE CENTER UPDATES

Hi all

As you all probably know, NI is about to release Komplete 10. Unfortunately, there are a couple of incompatible run-time libraries that will need to be resolved before Komplete 10 will run in Receptor, and we are working with NI to address these issues.

Unfortunately, those same incompatible libraries are installed AUTOMATICALLY when Service Center does its automatic update.

This will install a version of Service Center that will crash immediately when it tries to run, and as a result you will NOT be able to authorize any Native Instruments software on your Receptor with this particular version of Service Center installed.

Until we address this issue, we suggest the following:

1. Do NOT use Service Center in the online mode to authorize any NI software on your Receptor. Offline mode works fine, and will prevent Service Center from automatically updating and causing these problems. There is a video on how to do this on the Receptorland YouTube channel.

2. If you do accidentally, launch Service Center when on line, immediately CANCEL the automatic update. Do not allow it to update or it will install these incompatible libraries and Service Center will no longer work. Use the offline mode to authorize any software you have installed to be safe.

3. If the automatic update happens before you were able to prevent it from happening, you can revert to the previous version of Service center by following these instructions:

A) Use Receptor Remote to connect to Receptor Drive, then go to /c/Program Files/Native Instruments/. In there delete the “Service Center” folder.

B) Go to http://co.native-instruments.com/?id=freeupdates and download the windows installer for Service Center 2.5.4

C) Download it to your computer and Unzip the download. You should be left with a .exe file which you can copy to Receptors "Drop Installers Here" drive, and then run it in the normal fashion when installing a plugin.

4) Select and accept all the install defaults during the install process. Once it’s done, please put Receptor in crossover mode when registering NI plugs to prevent accidental automatic updates.

We're very sorry that this situation exists, NI knows about the issue, and we will work with them as quickly as possible to resolve the problem.

All the best

Has this been resolved? Think I just accidentally allowed NI to update the service center...

Unfortunately, NI has not been able to address this issue, although we are continuing to discuss the problem with them. So please follow the instructions for downgrading the version of Service Center. There is also a video on how to do it located here:

I know this is a hassle, and Service Center was working perfectly before they introduced a bunch of new incompatible libraries, so hopefully we will have this resolved soon.

What's the most recent version of Kontakt 5 that can be installed on Receptor Trio? Just bought a couple new libraries and receptor won't run them - says Kontakt player is too old... I'm using version 5.3...

5.4.1 (I believe this is the latest version) is not yet supported. 5.3... should work for most libraries but we cannot guarantee it.
