hihu wrote:Why not make all track to stick there permanent. So you can choose.
So you make the 5 tracks you are currently working on fixed and you scroll up and down and always see those 5 tracks for example.
I don't need to see always the master track.
People have different needs I know....
That's why I'm asking for an OPTION, so you can pin whatever track you want... it's all there.

Ideally each track should have a pin button, plus an option to choose where I want to dock my track, either on top or bottom. (for instance: you could pin some instrument tracks on top and some effects tracks on bottom, the rest of tracks should scroll in the middle... pretty neat, right?)

Cheers.

That's what I ment. Every track should have it.

I just hope now somebody at Bitwig will read your post and ideas because most of them will be great functions or fixes to Bitwig! :tu:

Yes beatsequencer nice, but as a device? Hell no! Put this in pianoroll insteed :)

Reason is because its more handy and allows room for velocity and stuff! Also nice to have a beat sequencer with timeline :) also more options could be applied in clip editing view like fill each for step and stuff!!
The idea behind the step sequencer is:

It should act like a front end of the piano roll/note editor. Everything you create in the device is actually being created in the piano roll as well, and can be edited at any time when you switch to the drum editing view.

The main purpose of the device is the SPEED and easiness of the creation of beats and the change of samples. Something that you can't do easily or quickly with the current way of creating drums in Bitwig.

So there is no flexibility loss.

Cheers.

But can you make the notes a little bit off the 4/4 grid?
With only 4 steps it looks as there is only one choice to place one note excately in time.

That's where the Swing control could come in, but to be really useful it could do with having groove extraction and programmable swing settings....

How should it be added to pianoroll notes? Like selecting the clips i want to change, or add? If i want to make new notes to i add a clip then in pianoroll and it will be added to selected clip?

After you create your notes in the device, nothing prevents you from editing your notes in the drum editing view/piano roll... and in the device we just need a little indication that some notes were edited...

This device must be different and should work like no other, I mean:
Each channel should have it's own piano roll view for editing the notes.
Think of it like a pattern-based sequencer, but in this case the patterns are the clips themselves.

Just for fun.......... :)

How about spread the "cropped" look across the others editors for a more consistent look?

not so sure, one is a midi note and the other region containing notes. there should be a visual difference imo

I don't see a reason for the cut corner for notes. Then again I don't see the reason for clips either.

Post

would be a good place to put in a fade control :)
