Wow Suloo, That's really an awesome thing you've done- thanks for sharing it with everybody! :tu:

Congratulations Urs and the U-He team on another great product release! This is sooo much fun to work with!

Can't wait to hear more media coverage on Hive now that it's properly released ^^.

Any possibility to invert polarity of oscillator?
phase parameter for every sub oscillator?

Yes. Set the osc volume to 0, then use a constant source in the ModMatrix to turn the osc volume into negative values.
Hmm tricky but intuitive :) thanks mate

I already made some of the tracks with beta version...will updating the synth change the sound of the presets Ive made? I hope not...

Nah :). There shouldn't be any worries about that sort of thing :)

By the way, Hive stars in my new video tutorial series. I'm glad it's been released so folks don't have to jump through any hoops to get the demo.

There was a change to the sound of some of my patches that I made months ago using older beta. I haven't had time to look and see what exactly changed in the software and when though.

Fun to see new tracks uploaded on Hive's page on the website!

The Dubstep was most interesting. Unfortunately, I honestly....didn't really see it as dubstep very much. It was certainly atmospheric, but didn't really have any melodic build-up or discernable drop, any real growl or wobble, or generally fit with the grimy, aggressive nature of the style :(. It honestly came off more like Chillout to me.

Still, kudos! there are apparently some essential Dubstep features missing from Hive. Hive certainly has the raw sound going for it - it definitely sounds better then Reveal Sound Spire, nevermind how many banks that synth has. it just needs to still flesh out a bit more to really capture a broader spectrum of contemporary EDM like that synth does.

For Dubstep, I'm thinking it especially needs more distortion (specifically Tube distortion, though I do love Diva's rotary effect) and formant capabilities like Vowel Phasers (the phaser in general can do with more types as well, though Bazille's fractal resonance sounds very clear and grimy. I'm not sure how well it would work for beautiful choirs, but it sounds perfect for grimy growls. Something like that could work out too. Vocal waveforms and more filter types are naturally always a route as well). Other essentials like more waveforms, FM and Sync are apparently on there way ^^, not to mention the 'Morph' hexagon which will hopefully emulate Spire's "WtMix" capability i.e. being able to bend and morph waveforms.

I definitely won't say no to a Ring-Mod either which can certainly benefit Dubstep and grimier dirtier tracks, which is certainly something that Spire does not have. I remember Diva's digital osc had that. A Ring-Mod is also good for drums and percussion!

As for super-saws (since I'm already on a request-spree XD)...there's already a clean smooth sawtooth that can obviously be detuned. If there *were* to be an actual super-saw waveform, I'd personally prefer the sort of fat, punchy supersaw reminiscent of the Roland synth modules of old like the JD-990 or the JV-1080 rather then the airy JP-8000. I have a thing for Eurobeat ^^.

As ever, it pays to look at what contemporary synths like Serum or Spire are up too for inspiration, just as you guys did looking at Sylenth :).

As-is, Hive can certainly pull off Psy, Trance and House music like a pro :3. Erkenfresh's fantastic "Beeform" track from OSC71 is high-energy and fun to listen too. Not to mention I've hard some nice retro-ish Pop music and XenoSoundworks has shown some really fantastic Hip-Hop/Trap music from Hive.

This doesn't make much sense to me (how many stacked saws do we REALLY need beyond the 16 we already have?).

Hi,

I bought Hive last week on the back of hearing a demo by a chap called David Rosen on SoundCloud.

I am really pleased with my purchase, so thanks to the u-he guys.

I spent the last week creating a new piece of work utilising fifteen instances of Hive within Sonar X2. No other synths were used. I opted on using FabFilter Pro-Q in certain tracks and on the main bus in order to cut out as much sub bass as possible.

I've posted the result on youtube:-

Rather than use a still image, I captured one instance of the Hive interface, which was being automated throughout the tune.

Yeah... Riveting :D

cheers
