certainly seems that way.

but then again, it might only seem that way because the mods are tired and have saddle sore when an abusive post is brought to their attention via the board's 'report post' button - so it's easy to overlook. Possibly also beause the 'report post' button is broken or something. might also seem that way since they dole out all their warnings in private and don't bother to edit/delete any rule-breaking posts, thus making it seem, for anyone following the discussion in public, that it's A-OK to call people 'f**king morons who ought to f**king this and f**king that and take their shit elsewhere' etc etc - people who are simply trying to abide by and get others to abide by the clearly worded rules of the forum.

so, despite it seeming a certain way, I guess we've got to give them the benefit of doubt, because between broken report buttons and an aching heiny it might be a bit much to expect the rules be enforced evenly.

I think Daags has comported himself well in this thread and raised some valid points.

May have more to say about this later, on my phone right now :D

Dude, who the f**k do you think you are? The real troll is you moron.
If you want a civil discussion with someone, it is not smart to call the other party a troll.

The term troll makes most of us see red, and I think it is used far too often.

I would question the effectiveness of the post-report system then... as the post was reported using the 'report post' button, and not one single mod did anything about it. Not knowing how the system works, I'll just give the benefit of the doubt and believe such systemated reports are easy to miss if a mod is tired or something. I guess all the mods were out riding motorcycles yesterday ?

cheers.
Reported posts typically get dealt with in a satisfactory manner, but you have to realize that there's not a mod at all moments hitting refresh and scanning every post.
I'm not sure you fully comprehend the scenario which gave me cause to seek clarification.
I did report the post, using the 'report post' button. Presumably this 'report post' system precludes any notion of a mod needing to hit refresh and scan every post ? Furthermore, a mod appeared in the thread and posted - after the flagrantly offensive-and-against-the-rules post - so that seems to illustrate that between the post being reported and their presence in the thread any notion of them needing to to refresh and scan every post is...a little bit of an exaggeration (to put it mildly).

The way in which it was dealt with is not something I would refer to as a 'satisfactory manner'.

but then again, the mod in question confirmed Orbit-50's post was in breach of the rules, and gave his reasons for handling it as he did.

All I or anyone else can do is accept that.

Things just seem... uneven.

Thanks bluedad, I'm getting there. That Kawasaki looks nice ... never seen one in the UK.

I've been looking at Ducati Diavels. Not too sure if I'll be able to ride a bike again, but I'm working on it. Dunno about GAS, but I have plenty of hardware synths lying around here too ... seven at last count (not including my samplers, VL-tone, stylophone). :hihi:

I didn't call anyone, or 'the other party' for that matter, a troll.
You really should double check the context of the quote before you comment on it.

the 'trolls' I was referring to was non-specific, the same kind of usage in this marketplace rule:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 43&t=49313
Trolling / Derailing / Being Helpful in other members' topics
Don't reply to another member's sales topic unless you are truly contributing to it. Don't reply just to be derisive, argumentative or abusive. If you have a genuine insight into the topic post, otherwise move along.
The owner of the board, who set the rules, uses the term.

Here's the full quote - which Orbit-50 butchered to suit his own ends
so the jist of it is, if it's legal, you are allowed to sell it - undisturbed by trolls who don't like the idea you got it cheaper than what you're selling it for.
That is what I said, after posting segments of the marketplace rules - including the one posted above about trolling legit listings in the marketplace forum.
( full post here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 3#p6152333 )

if you think that justifies Orbit-50 throwing his toys out of the pram, then so be it, but don't get so confused as to suggest that I somehow antagonised him in to it by calling him specifically a troll.

I dont think it is your satisfaction that sets the bar.

What other rule enforcement actions are you comparing this to in order to deem it 'uneven' application?

Perhaps you'd like to have me crucified for ignoring your report. True, I ignored it. I scarcely looked over Obit's post to begin with,
and if you saw how many posts get reported for really trivial things, well..
However, OK, I'm rested and refreshed for another day of riding; it is the weekend. Never said anything about being saddlesore, or aching heiny. Just tired. I'm an old man.
So I'll take my leave of kvr now, and after ten+ years of being a mod, this thread reminds me how much I love this place.
Bye now, Daags I'm leaving you the key.

I didn't, and don't, assume you're the only mod here.

Not knowing how the 'report post' system works precisely, I'd have to suggest ( yes, another one ;) ) that a mod shouldn't investigate a reported post if they're not going to give it the 1 second it would take to confirm that yes, clearly, the post was in breach of the rules and required moderation. I'm not sure how scarcely you would need to look at it in order to not see the content... I mean, I would defy anyone to try and look at it and not immediately see that its content was foul-mouthed and abusive (it's littered with asterisks for a start) and in breach of one of the cardinal forum rules.

If you're too tired to see what's in front of you... just leave the reported post for another mod to investigate.

good idea / bad idea ?

and the idea that you ignored it...is kind of undermined by the fact you posted in the thread yourself (to confirm that yes, indeed, people should be allowed to list stuff that is both legal and not against the forum rules) and also claimed to have warned him privately. So, you warned him for a post you scarcely saw ? ...ummm ... :-/

anyway,
enjoy the ride!

tbh, I only warned him this morning.
As for editing and doing as you suggest, well, for my frame of mind, that's too much work.
Call me a bad mod. :tu:
Thanks, now I'm really off on the ride, and I need my keychain so I'll be taking them back.
