Hello
I'm using Tracktion 4.5.6 x86 version.

When I activate a filter (with F or the mouse) I hear a crackle/pop :?
It happens only when an audio clip is being played, and I activate/deactivate a filter on the fly.
When the audio is stopped I don't hear pops. ALSO it happen with traktion native filters too.

I can see it (the pop) when I put a Spectrum Analyzer on the track (or the master).
So it is not related to my audio system. It happen in traction.

I use Ableton live 7, and never had pops when disabling an effect (even tried live 8/9 demo still no clic).
Also FL studio don't clic when I disable a filter (with the same VST used as in Tracktion).

I have windows 7 SP1 x64 and an INTEL Quad Core. I use Focusrite Scarlett interface.
No problem with any other DAW. I tried reinstalling win7 but still no luck.
Then I tried Tracktion on my laptop AND IT ALSO HAS THIS POP, so it's not my computer

Can you help me or is it a traction internal bug. Thank you.

PS : Try keep pushing F without removing you hand from the keyboard (and you will hear it loudly) :dog:

Hello again,
After further test it seems that this pop/crackle is present in every daw,
BUT IT IS "MUTED", let me explain :
- when you activate an effect/filter in Ableton the vst is activated, the sound is mixed in after an unoticeable delay, so the sound kicks in JUST AFTER THE POP, and this don't mute the audio playback :tu:

WITH ABLETON :
The pop can only be seen in SPAN (only when I activate SPAN), and it has the same shape as the pop in tracktion. It can only be seen in SPAN because when I activate SPAN, even if the audio is muted/delayed the daw cannot delay the frequency analyser spectrum in SPAN = as a result we can see it on the graph since the graph kicks in exactly when I press the ON/OFF button.

This seems to indicate that it's not a bug in tracktion, just a "non present feature" (the delayed audio activation).

I hope Tracktion team will implement this feature in later updates (even the FREE Tracktion 4 because it can drive away future customers, I was going to let go of tracktion and update to Live 9 after summer because of this pop).

I really love tracktion, and to be frank before trying it I didn't liked it that much, but after some time with it, I have finally found my perfect daw, it's Tracktion (T6 even If I use T4) : the implementation of the audio warping marker + the step sequencer like in Fl studio sold me... I will definitely buy T6 when I can afford it.

CAN SOMEONE IN THE DEV TEAM CONFIRM THIS THEORY ?

PS : Tracktion 6 is close to perfect but it needs :
- Choke group in the sampler
- A live/perfomance mode (can be done with a new row under the "marker track" called "live markers". And we could assign each "live marker" to a midi note and jump to it. Then It would loop between the 2 live markers, IN TIME until we press another note (in time like ableton, when we press another "marker note" it jump to the other marker only after it finish playing the bar).

Nice ideas :)

I will have the dev guys take a look and respond too

Yes cool !
I'm waiting for their answer

It is VERY distracting when you try to A/B and you hear the cracks in between, almost makes it imposible to judge small corrections.

I was almost gonna let go of tracktion after trying T4, because I taught it was an internal bug in the audio engine. So this is probably best to address it first and implement it in Tracktion 4 FREE (as it may drive away your future customers).

Thank you :tu:
