There hasn't been a cheaper option than that. The cheapest for Platinum has been $150, with JRR you're getting it for even less than that with the coupon.

Ehhhh the demo patches didn't do much for me but at 12 euros or pounds I don't remember which it's probably worth getting.

Again I think it's the original patches that define the D50 and if those can't be replicated for legal reasons you're pretty much just left with some choir, string, bell pads....pretty common stuff.

Think "Native Dance" which of course was over used to death but is one of those sounds that defines the D-50.

Agreed, I was just noting that everyone is getting the "You still think this is too expensive, well then..." sale option post-launch, aside from the X3 Producer folks. I just think it is a curious business strategy for Cakewalk to not try to persuade those on-the-fence customers who did purchase their most expensive offering before. That said, I can respect their price floor. It is just not for me at this time.

For me, the cost was offset by both the JRR price in cart and that you get the XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2 Producer bundle with it. Which means you're getting either the upgrade or the drum bundle for free when buying the other. At least, it was enough justification for me go ahead with it.

Cheers Tek. Bought it anyway. Indeed only 12 EUR, so worth the risk.

Once they kick PACE/iLok to the curb, they may even be a great company.
But you love using Steinberg eLicenser Dongle yes? :)

I wouldn't say love, but I've gotten use to it. Because even though it does take a USB port, it at least doesn't continually run and sap system resources like iLok/PACE. PACE software is a parasite where eLicense is just a license key that shows no use of system resources like PACE does. PACE is a company that has proven to be problematic to me in other ways also. I naturally then suspect any company that uses them as well.

But hey, UVI-DS is 'free' (again). Kind of like a free bed from a motel. Enjoy.
I've gotten three copies myself, tried one and got rid of all three. TETO.
As long as it comes with PACE, it's not even worth free to me.
So just don't expect anything more than the price they give it to you for.

And if you all intend on continuing bouncing this around into a debate, then at least start a thread in Instruments to do it so we can get the thread back to the bargains.

I have two eLicenser and two ILok and i dont know what problems you think to have but mine working fine since years. So you read ten years ago somewhere that ILok use up system resources and you have no experience (or to be nice i say: few to nothing) and you still flush every thread with your PACE baloney? Grow up dude.

About DS. I think some here dont know how the D50 really sound (very mediocre for nowday standard) just sayin'..

ilok/PACE works like it was designed to do. Intrusively. My personal experience with the company has been in the last few years as well, not 'over ten' and not from reading, but by testing it. In fact, my last test was in this last year during one of these DS give-aways because they stated they changed the software to address that, but I found it hadn't at all. You are the one continuing to 'flush' the thread focusing on me, because I stated it once when it was appropriate; and I'm not the only one that has stated issues with it. If you want to carry on with debating it, go start a thread in a more appropriate forum and let this one get back on track.

As for me on this subject, I stated my experience with it and am moving on.

DFTT

Please don't get into one of those dongle hand bag fights again :x

That UVI uses pace is totally beyond the point. For those who want the freebie take it, otherwise don't. That should be end of story :borg:

eLicenser does not send your system data to the server. PACE does.

So where is the link to the bargain, where is the free stuff that requires eLicenser? :? :?:

This is a thread about bargain discusions, not a dongle discussion thread
