Any one get these libraries Yet?
I'd be a bit biased, but I do feel they sound great. I'm a big fan of Ken Scott's work so I'm very happy with the Bozzio kit. He (Ken) is a great guy too, I can thank Squids from SR not only for this kit but for inviting me to sit with him and Ken as we had lunch at NAMM a few years back. Very cool experience.

I did receive user feedback on the Alan Parsons Imperial Grand today, and it was quite positive: "WOW, it's stunning! This has got to be ST3 at its best."

It is lovely indeed! Having that classic Pink Floyd vibe = instant inspiration 8) :phones:

LOL - how much are they paying you, blueman...

i dunno, the imperial grand demos sucked IMO. totally not how i would play it. maybe it would sound better in person, so to speak, but the sound examples are really unimpressive.

i also have the Bozzio kit for BFD, and that thing is great. no idea how it sounds in SampleTank though.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Thank you, I'm glad you like them. Sorry for the insulting insinuation made by someone with a vendetta and a flair for showing off business naiveté regularly (and who doesn't understand that IK has many thousands of happy customers regardless of his efforts to prove or make something other than that the truth).

@Burillo - thank you for your constructive thoughts on the audio demos, too. Always appreciated, I hope the next set of libraries (and associated audio demos) are more your cup of tea.

The Terry Bozzio kit sounds like this in SampleTank, (the link posted above - recorded by Ken Scott, played by Terry Bozzio):

Damn, it's bedlam in this thread. After a long hiatus from the music world I decided to start looking around again at the updates to the plugins I once owned, as well as seeing what else has come along since then. Sampletank was always a product that I felt promised a lot, but under-delivered compared to my expectations. ST1, 2, and even Sonik Synth 2 were not my favorite plug-ins. My go-to bread and butter VST was Plugsound Pro and some Scarbee libraries. However, hype tends to draw me in and the reviews have been good for ST3, so I took the plunge. I am really glad I did. ST3 is a vast improvement over ST2. The samples are excellent across the board. I am particularly impressed with the pianos and basses. The interface is simple and fast. I guess I came in at just the right time too, as the latest release doesn't seem to have any issues either. Anyway, just wanted to inject some positivity into this thread as I am happy with the product.

i wouldn't describe my comments as "constructive", but OK, you're welcome :)

for the record, i would second the previous post - a lot of sounds in ST3 are great, certainly more than enough for creating sketches, which is mainly what i use ST for. i don't care much for vocals and some other ST3 sounds, but the basses, drums, pianos, organs, brass etc. while not perfect, are certainly usable and musical.

Perhaps "mostly constructive" then? "Typically constructive"? Anyway, outside of "different strokes for different folks" it seems that SampleTank 3 is showing most strength in its intended function as a very solid workstation. This is the point that I believe had been tossed about even before its release, and it seems we've come full circle and can see that for many it really is just that and works well in their workflow.

Does anyone know how to refresh the Imported Samples folder structure ? I've got some custom drum loops I had imported and they were showing up scattered between the imported library folders such as Cinematik, OB Xpander, Sonik Synth etc in alphabetical order so I created a folder "Tek Drum Loops" and moved all the loops in there. However after repeated attempts to refresh the list using the Rebuild Instruments Database arrow they still show up as before. Any ideas ? :)

Never done it myself, but ...
try renaming 'LegacyInstrumentsCache.db' and clicking the Rebuild button (quite why that did not do it before I do not know)

Thanks DarkStar, oddly enough ST3 did not rebuild the LegacyInstrumentsCache.

Anyway I figured out what I did wrong....I moved the PAK and Wave Sound files not the ST3I files...... :dog:

So I replaced the cache file, moved the instrument files, did a rescan and all is good now. Thanks for your help. Still odd that ST did not rebuild it's db file......

^^^
It normally does (here, anyway). Maybe moving the .pak files confused it?

(I'll guess that the .st3i files contain 'semi-absolute paths' to the .pak files (relative to the base folder then absolute from there)).

To clarify:
  • I have never renamed 'LegacyInstrumentsCache.db' then clicked the Rebuild button.
  • And, when I do click Rebuild it does rebuild the LegacyInstrumentsCache.db file along with the others.
