db3 wrote: On the topic of iLok, according to my mac system monitor, when I enable an iLok protected plug the licence process uses about 1-2% cpu for about 5 seconds, then it shows the process as using 0% cpu.
On my system, it runs continuously at 0.5% (higher than the system searching for network, which I also turn off most of the time and always during sessions). But all other programs (non-ilok) run an additional 1-3% more with it installed and 'peaks' increase by up to an additional 8-12% more. All those numbers return to normal just by removing it. On the little atom processor I run the editors on, it runs continuously at around 1.5% (but it is a smaller processor and I don't run anything but those editors requiring PACE on that machine).
eLicenser shows no usage at all.

Are you using Windows? On a modern OS it would be extremely unlikely for a process using 0.5% CPU to have any effect on other processes, maybe on Windows but elsewhere I'd say this is bias and that the numbers you see is nothing but a random
unrelated occurrence.

One would think PACE is I/O based and so if coded correctly can run with almost no CPU overhead, and indeed
on my Mac it uses 0.0% like db3 reported, but will go up to 4% when I load a project with lots of ilok using plugins (but only for a few milliseconds).

In the one week that my macbook has been powered on the PACE driver has sent 0 bytes and received 0 bytes from the network, so it has not been connecting to the internet.

One funny thing that I have noticed is that my plugins continue to run fine for hours even if I unload the PACE driver from the kernel.

I would prefer that also. :tu:
I would like to suggest again to continue it in a more appropriate sub-forum if they feel necessary.

Given the amount of discussion it gets it probably needs its own dedicated sub-forum

Any comments? I'm thinking about it. There's bound to be some good stuff in there but is it worth the asking price?

I'm not going to write an in-depth review but I can answer my own question now and say that I'm happy with this purchase. Like their Kick Drum Pack, it's a great resource to have at a very reasonable cost.

26 GB of content and more than 2,800 Kontakt instruments, costing €89 during the next 14 days: http://vstbuzz.com/deals/50-off-complet ... 7ddc46822d
Anyone use this? Seems like a bargain. Was looking at getting Sonivox Film Score, now I'm thinking this might be a good choice (better money-wise for sure). Anyone had experience with both?

I'm new to Kontakt, how does reselling work on third-party packs like this? Is it allowed?

@MutantDog: A user posted some insight earlier this year, at Best Service http://www.bestservice.de/en/complete_o ... ml#reviews

4.0 of 5: This is an amazing sound library/collection. For what I know, all products associated with [the dev] are always impeccable however the reason why I offer 4 stars instead of 5 is because many of the sounds of the ADVANCED ORCHESTRA part of the library are not that good, especially compared with most recently developed products, however ALL THAT BEING SAID, the real value of this product lies on the rest of the volumes on it , especially Orchestral Colors, Smart Violins, String Tools and Classical Choirs. These parts are AMAZING, I mean, AMAZING especially if you think within the $200 price range context. I remember back in the days of Best Service's ProSamples, volumes 11 & 51 (around 2001-2004), I paid $100 (for both) just for 400 mb worth of Advanced Orchestra from the same library from Best Service, nowadays we are talking about 27 GB worth of sounds, however and believe it or not, some of the sounds, after 10 years, are the same samples from those old ProSamples volumes. But please as a reviewer, don't take me wrong THIS IS AN AMAZING PRODUCT, and I guess it offers way more than what might represent its price range. Without any doubt I guess many of the included libraries will never go out of date.

Edit: Doing a bit of searching, it seems the samples were recorded almost 20 years ago: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1997_ar ... may97.html

So it is a case of old samples in new packaging.

Hi everybody!

I am looking for a budget Orchestra library. So far my options are :

Garritan Personal Orchestra -+-150
EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Silver +- 200 Edit: Right now $95 + Ilok +-30 = $130

Both seems to be quite hard to find in the second hand market...is the Symphonic Orchestra Silver nfrs?

Also, as you can see, I am looking for big array of instrument, a complete library on a budget. Based on that, wich other alternatives would you guys consider?
