It seems 24-bit recording with MRecorder records with a hell of a lot of glitching. 16 and 32-float seem clean. I was using it in Blue Cat's PatchWork, at the end of a chain. Thanks.

I get glitching with all modes as soon as I engage record.

Hmmm, please tell me which OS and host are you using. Are you talking about glitches in the playback or glitches in the resulting audio?

OSX Mavericks, any host - I reported this before and uploaded some audio, it's affecting the sound recorded

But the actual playback works well?

In my case it's W7-64. 24-bit recording is mostly clean, with very few glitches, but playing back the recording is a glitch fest. Like I said, 16-bit and 32-bit float are clean on recording and playback.

Thanks for the update, so far seems to be running much more smoothly. Only problem is it's hard to tell when it is actually recording anything, the first time I ran it I started the rec button and played some stuff, only to find the resulting wav file was empty, second time I did it I got a file recorded but some sort of visual indicator of the fact that it is actually recording with an indication of how many minutes and secs would be very useful, or even a display of the wave file as it records and a playback button to hear what has been recorded. Also if you hit record twice does it overwrite the existing wav or append the new recording to it? Some control over that would also help.

Well, you know, it's a free utitility, I suppose there should be something but...you know there are more important things to do :D

Sure but there is also a paid for version. Plus it's actually a one of a kind utility and one that people may be interested in paying for a fuller version of. I would.

Post

Well, I guess. Any ideas?

Sure - for a decent usable audio recorder plugin I would suggest adding things like:

waveform display (so people can see what is being recorded)
clipping monitor
input level control
playback
overdub/append toggle
record time/file size display
drag/drop audio file into host
autostart on input (optional)

would make for a fantastically useful tool that is not available cross platform and/or in multiple formats either

maybe in time you could add things like slicing and some simple audio editing tools?

:o You are turning the tiny free utility into a monster :D. I'm in serious doubt to be honest. Anyway the first 2 are actually already there - just expand the metering section ;). Gain in isn't a problem. What you mean by playback? Appending actually would be a little tricky. Time/size display, well, possible, not keen to do that though, it's just a little waste of time, which could be spent on something waaaaay more interesting. Drag & drop - probably no. Autostart - you mean when the input exceeds some threshold?

Well I meant for these to be things in a paid for fuller version, you asked for ideas. I see level meters when I expand the meters section, but not a waveform display (is there something else I need to press? - I mean the recorded wave like in any daw)

Playback means playing back what has just been recorded (to see if it sounds right without having to load it in another app)

Time/size is just so you can see how much has been recorded - I would find that useful

Append is not essential I suppose but would be useful to do multiple takes (great for making preset demos)

Drag drop is a pity

Autostart - yes it means record starts when sound is coming in (useful if recording improvisations)

Post

Well, I'll see what will be easy enough :).

EDIT: The waveform view is available from the time graphs - the highest button in the peak meters probably.
