Moog Modules 901 904a for Diva

A question for Urs: in recent years the original VCO from the Moog Modular has been cloned by a few 5U module manufacturers. The schematics are readily available.
It sounds totally different from a Minimoog and the 921, less aggressive, fuller bottom end, it's the sound heard in Berlin school style music and films like Apocalypse Now.
Is this 901 VCO a candidate for Diva ? Maybe together with the 904a filter. That would be fantastisch.

I'd like to see something else in Diva before some more Moog. Like 303 diode ladder filter, or the Steiner-Parker filter, for example.

Polivoks ftw.EvilDragon wrote:I'd like to see something else in Diva before some more Moog. Like 303 diode ladder filter, or the Steiner-Parker filter, for example.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

That too.

We'll see... at the moment we're mostly busy with ourselves (deploying JIRA, moving offices, redesigning website, tackling some long overdue stuff).
I'd love to do the Polivoks filter. It's very tricky though.

I built a Polivoks filter for my 5U using a PCB and parts sourced from a Russian guy. It is definitely worth looking at. It is very unique.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Yeah, mine's a Euro format Harvestman. bandpass and lowpass, sounds great.SJ_Digriz wrote:I built a Polivoks filter for my 5U using a PCB and parts sourced from a Russian guy. It is definitely worth looking at. It is very unique.

We got both, Harvestman and original Polivoks. They sound pretty different. I think maybe all Polivokses sound different, with some sort of random individual touch.whyterabbyt wrote:Yeah, mine's a Euro format Harvestman. bandpass and lowpass, sounds great.SJ_Digriz wrote:I built a Polivoks filter for my 5U using a PCB and parts sourced from a Russian guy. If I remember properly, the guy I sourced the parts/pcb from pretty much said that there is no Polivoks, there are only a bunch of different filters with the Polivoks label on themUrs wrote:We got both, Harvestman and original Polivoks. I beg to differ.EvilDragon wrote:There is no spoon.

+1 for 303/Polivoks/Synthacon modules! Diva would benefit a ton from some "wilder" components like those.
I treat Diva as a modular, so the more contrast/variety between the modules the better!
I'd love some new enveloppes to play with too...
I keep on thinking that Bazille's filters and osc (or inspired by/simplified version of those) in Diva would be fantastic. I know it would defeat her analogue authenticity... but still.
On a much more realistic side note, Urs, would you consider adding a global output knob to the Roland oscillators?

I have a very large modular, and to be honest the real thing that makes them awesome is filters. VCOs, EGs and VCAs are kind of bleh utilities. You can do cool things with them but it isn't (at least to me) what makes modular rock. Filters, filters, filters.
