Yup, I always have to open the plugin and then realize it was the wrong one. The only names I can remember what they're doing: Lush101, Toraverb, Sigmund, Synthorus, Decimort and Fazortan. But I don't use their other synths very often.

I think Antresol I will remember somehow.

Right so as I was saying, Antresole appears to be a region in Poland.

They seem to have a naming strategy similar to Seat (for this one at least).
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Got the email also. Seems like I'm gonna need Doc Brown for this one.

Names and marketing aside, I find the audio demos decidedly underwhelming. No sale here I'm afraid.

Just my opinion of course. Others may disagree...

I don't like the audio demos too, but the flanger itself sounds pretty good to me ;)

Awh come on now :) ... These examples are just bias, coming from the point of view of someone who already knows what the names of the "more familiar sounding plugins" are. The thing is, you remember the names of the plugins you like and use more often.

You quoted a lot of U-he plugins, so that's a good example, yes: their names contain information just as little. Bazille, Runciter, Diva, Zebra, Presswerk... You just need to learn them and remember them. Some of the mentioned names hint at the functionality of the product, but so do the d16 ones. Nothing wrong with names like Fazortan, Decimort, Devastor and so on, when compared.
There's a difference though.

Words like "Diva", "Hive", "Zebra" are words with a distinct meaning beyond the realm of VSTs (most of the professional synths have such names, compare that to those obscure free synths on VST4free no one can remember... :D )

Worlds like "Fazortan", "Decimort", "Devastor" don't, because they are made up (at least I don't know their meaning).

Words like "Sylenth" are a bit in between.

So it's obvious which names stick out more/are easier to remember (and as I mentioned, I'm coming from the marketing aspect, not from the "learn your plugin name" one. )

(I don't have plugs like Echo Boy, Phase Mistress, Pan Man, Filter Freak, but just from the name I already know what they are doing).

found it :D

The Silverline names are quite ok. I have much more troubles with D16's synth names, except Lush101, which is also pretty clear ;)

I find D16 in general decidedly underwhelming.

Same here, same here. :)

Looking in my VST folder I realised I don't have enough flangers, so I thought I'd give this a try despite not liking the audio demos...

But....

I accidentally downloaded this instead...

I don't know how it happened - my hand slipped or something - but hey, I'm glad it did. Sounds bloody good to me.

:D

I might still give the D16 flanger a try, but I'm in no hurry now.

When you do a google search for Fazortan, it's the first hit.

When you do a google search for Hive, you get all sorts of non-synth hits.

I think that has something to do with their strategy. Of course, that actually requires you to remember the name of the synth in the first place.

It's definitely a different approach.

I will almost certainly be buying this, but, if I hadn't been told otherwise, "Antresol" is definitely the name of a product for treating floorboards :P.
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

i believe they meant entresol. it is indeed pronounced "antresol" (and is written that way in Russian and possibly other Slavic languages, including Polish) because it's French.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

yes, I'd LOVE some chocolate ASS-cream.
