First off: I know we've done these threads before, so I'm not saying anything new, nor making any insightful judgements. Furthermore, I know that no fix will be implemented for me, and that I'll just have to wait to see what comes with v2.

However, I would like to vent a wee bit--

I'm in the middle of my first project that uses 'scads' of files, as some of the passages were done in 10 or more takes. Some observations:

1. Track folders, or whatever they'll be called, are highly necessary. Naming a track "storage" and shift-dragging your unused clips there for future reference is a bigtime hassle.

2. The automatic naming-- maybe I just haven't played with this to see if there are any other options; however, when I drag a clip out of a track into "storage", the next track that I record is named "1" again. The filename increments with the number in brackets, which is fine... but since a lot of that is "behind the scenes", I'm more concerned with what it's called in my edit window.

3. Orphan clips-- Since all the files have generic-looking names, I'm afraid to delete something important (even though I'm fairly certain none of my important clips are orphaned), so I can't just select all and delete. I'm too paranoid. A quicker way of renaming important files would help me get around this.

4. For some reason (this one might be a bug), "Save As..." isn't working in edits that I create using "create new edit" from the project window. I can't suss why that would be. But I don't want to save over "Main Edit 1", because I might want to go back to it. I'd rather "Save As..." "Main Edit 2" or something similar.

5. I was using a rendered version of my drums in a Fresh Edit (to help reduce clutter in another edit), and I didn't notice 'till after recording a take or two that my BPM were not set right. No worries, since there was no MIDI, the grids were nothing more than window dressing. I enter the correct BPM, and BAM, all my audio clips were shifted around and I had to manually correct them.

6. It takes forever to load up busy edits. That's not something that can be fixed except on my end-- more efficient use of files plus a better computer would help. However, it's causing difficulty when I want to reference something in "Edit 1" that I want to mimic in "Edit 2".

I think that's about it.

I'm still in love with Tracktion (in Cubase, I would still be in the starting blocks), but I'm becoming eager for v2.
