I have been demoing this for a long time now. I'm waiting for a sale because I have so much on my plate at the moment, I wouldn't get to actually using this thing until next year.

But I can say this. I love the architecture. I love the way it sounds. It's a little complex on the programming end only because of all the tabs and having to remember where you are, but other than that, I have no real complaints.

This synth isn't an if for me but a when. It's on my "buy" list but like I said, waiting for a sale, which I hope will come around Christmas time. But if not, I'll still be getting it because this is one of the best synths I've ever worked with, hardware or software.

It's definitely one of the greatest ever, especially as an additive synth. So sad to see them go, but their very mature flagship is being sold for just $49 right now, a nice way of saying goodbye. Spectral always runs flawlessly on my system and will always be my dearest pad machine. Thank you for such a masterpiece Peter, won't likely see such a great plugin and developer for a good long time. I didn't even think about the V2, the current version is above my expectation already and perfect as it is.

It's a great synth, probably the pinnacle of Linplug's catalogue, and also has some very fine third party soundbanks for it including a great one from HGS (who should really do more), a couple from Simon Stockhausen, and several on their site (the Ian Boddy one is my favourite, the Arksun/Bigtone one is also fantastic, in fact they are all good to great)

I own in-visible and Warm n Deep, while both are great but to me the most amazing is actually the factory contents. There is also a free bank by my favorite sound designer CHE, which is kind of a highly enjoyable journey in space music. Just playing through the well programmed arpeggiated patches (each with several variations) is fun and relaxing, especially since the fxs and reverb in this plugin is already great sounding. For those who are into such type of material, the freebie alone worth the price of the admission.

Thankyou I missed that one.

What I also like about it is all presets can be imported into the Kore and Bitwig browsers.

At the current price of $49 it seems like a no-brainer, even if it's not developed / supported any longer.

I have also been demoing it lately. There are some comparisons with Thorn being discussed in that thread: viewtopic.php?p=6904688

They both seem like really nicely designed instruments. Spectral has more of a non-standard workflow, but it makes sense in its own way.

i think the sound is quite dull. there's not a lot of density to it. if that's the right word?
Thorn is hard, but it's possible to soften it, whereas Spectral has no way to harden except for using external effects etc... i wouldn't waste my time comparing the two in a thread though, it's apples and bananas really.
I've long been a LinPlug customer, but this one was one of the few i didn't get into.
It just doesn't have enough bite. not solid enough. although it's 'spectral synthesis', it's pretty much laid out exactly like a subtractive synth. and when i start subtracting from it, there's not a lot of body left to really dig into the mix.
though the feature set is amazing. Microtuning support is awesome too.

So if it had been a VA, it would be like Alpha3 :P

It's called musical, not dull.
