Omni users, please help! If you install Omnisphere fresh to a new computer, but want access to all of your user-created "projects" (e.g. the project categories you can create in order to then flag presets as belonging to them) from the installation on your old system, how do you do this? I have categorized hundreds (if not thousands) of Omni presets into user-defined Project categories, and do not relish the idea of doing all that of again with the new installation (nor would it even really be possible, having owned Omni for years now...)

Try copying the Projects folder over?

STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library\Projects\

All my projects, favorites, etc., were as they should be when I did my Omni 2 upgrade, so I don't think you really have to do anything else....of course you should still have your Steam folder backed up (as well as everything else on your DAW) just in case there is a problem.

You didn't read the post closely enough. I'm doing a fresh install ***on a different system***. There's no way for it to know what I'd favorited / created projects for, etc. on the totally different computer.

FYI, I just tried this and it did not work. The projects section in the browser was completely empty. I will attempt to contact Spectrasonics at this point... surely there is a way to do this.

there is a way and a file call omni.part or something similar. It's a single file which contains all the project preset settings. I made a thread a while ago with same subject, might want to do a search if impantient.

Not sure why copying the project's hasn't worked. It's here -

Steam/Omnisphere/Settings Library/Patches/Projects

and stored as prt_omn.index.

If you've definitely copied this file to the right place on the new system, yup it's support.

After copying/pasting files, did you refresh the browser interface (circular arrow)?

I just tried exactly this again, copying only the prt_omn.index. No change -- the project sections remains exactly the same as before the copy. Even the few new project categories I had created on the new system stayed up, didn't get overwritten, nothing from the old shows up etc; nothing.

stumped!

Yeah, I did, Still nothing. I'm following all the advice given in this thread exactly, so far, nothing shows up. Basically the new installation remains exactly the same no matter copying the Project folder or the prt_omn.index file. Really weird.

I have built several new PCs and moved Omnisphere and all of my projects over with no issues

The first thing you need to do is make sure the new install is totally free of anything Omnisphere related. On a fresh build this is easy as you simply don't install anything, if you have already installed Omnisphere you need to delete it and all the files associated with it

Then on your old system you need to make sure you have updated Omnisphere to the most recent version of everything

Then you copy and move the entire Steam folder over from your old hard drive to the new one . This will include any samples and presets

Then on your new system install Omnisphere the plugin but not any of the libraries, during the install process you will be asked to point Omnisphere to the location of the Steam folder do so and it should work as it has for me several times now

It has for me multiple times

I think the issue is when you install it new and then try to bring over selected files it creates a conflict

So when you update your old machine you will have that

Then when you copy it over to the new machine and install Omnisphere all it will see is the proper files
