A day has passed and I've tried the Sampler again.

Meh ... Still feeling like it's just bland and sterile sounding.

On the other hand, I loaded up the latest version of Dexed (v0.9.0) right after and felt totally inspired. Even if it's not 100% there yet, I'd put money down for Dexed long before TAL Sampler.

I guess 'I'm Out' as they say.

We can already get vintage type sampler distortion with one of the D16 Plugins. The name of the plugin (like all D16 plugins) escapes me at the moment.

I didn't think I'd purchase TALs first two VSTi instruments but I did eventually.

I don't know about this one. Just thinking out loud. Waiting to read other peoples comments.

Anyway, judging from the GUI it should allow for quite flexible sounds thanks to those 4 layers. Not unlike Korg's M1, but with a better user interface.
If it sounds sterile, maybe it has to do with the samples used. Did you try your own samples?

Dexed is an emulation of a digital synth, while TAL-Sampler is not

No. I won't bother. I'm just not 'feeling it man', if you know what I mean. Maybe I can get a better sound if I do X, Y and Z. But maybe I'll never get to that stage. Two different instruments of course. But one 'does it for me' and the other doesn't.

Interesting. It looks a little bit like an hybrid between Morgana(for the gritty character) and Grace(for the easy but deep features).
Grace seems to have more fun in the modulation department (thanks to its stepseq and XYpad and also the mapping seems better), but TAL Sampler got me interested with the timestretching...
I'll give the demo a try !

I'm not sure about that, how many sample layers can Grace handle, only 1 ?

TAL-Sampler got 4.

Morgana is interesting...but not 170euro interesting.

Grace can handle at least 8 layers (i didn't try more).
From this thread, it can handle 127 layers, but i would invite you to go there to check it out (i just posted 2 screenshots), so we won't be hijacking the TAL thread

I like it but so far my only issue has been the zipper noise when changing delay time and offset.

Patrick/Thorsten ... thank you for making this! I've been longing for something like this for a long time. There's threads on several places discussing vintage samplers and how we want them in software form. Your Juno/101 emulations are fantastic so based on these things ill buy it after just a few minutes testing. Stupid, i know but i can't stand that tinnitus inducing noise.

In on of the threads we talked about how much transposing changes the sound on different samplers. Is this something considered in this plugin?

Lastly, congrats on releasing the new reverb. Seems to sound very nice according to the BPB video. I'll play with the sampler first though!

Also the 'load' button in the sample area doesn't do anything (x64 demo version, Cubase 5 x64).

i've been testing this new TAL Sampler all day against Morgana. hard to explain, but i still prefer Morgana even after tweaking the hell out of every possible combination of these DAC emus. it's VERY close, but there's just something inside Morgana (some sort of EQ/filtering) that it does to the samples which i haven't found with anything else. it accentuates/distorts certain frequencies in a really pleasing way.

Agreeing that Morgana has still value.
If I have to leave a Sampler behind that would be Cyclone, just for that gui/os perfect implementation which makes it perfectly slow.

Morgana's grit and filter are a good combo as in Tal's Sampler.

Tal's manages to offer more (layers, stretch, selfosc, modulations, sfz, etc) and the utilitarian gui helps me a lot.

Haven't found mention of Stretch limitations in the manual.
