Honestly? It may be that a big deal of that PDC issue was in the minds of people. Not that it didn't exist, it was a real problem, I just think people were less effected than they thought. Now that it's mostly addressed, it's not really that exiting, because well, Live still does what it always did.
Plus the people who really wanted it have likely been using the beta for a while anyway...

Nice to see the final verion of v9.2 now. Just installed this and the latest version of Max 4 Live today.
I am not a fan of using Beta versions of hosts so i did not use any version of v9.2 until now.

While i also got Cubase 8 Pro (+ some other hosts...) which is great too Live 9 is still my "go to" host in most cases.

Is Max for Live 7 now included for free in the 9.2 Live update? Its confusing. It sounds like its only good for a trial period then you have to crossgrade.

Post

its the same as it was before. M4L is included in suite, v6, v7, doesnt matter. However it will install what is a fully usable version. To use that outside of live that is a demo version (unless you buy a max license). If you use it inside of live then your fine. Heres all the restrictions, it references v5 but they all should still apply to v7

You should only need 1 version of Max installed ... either version should work. Max for Live is included free in Live 9 Suite.

I can't find a Max 7 to install. Its just an app package now unlike 6 that actually had an installer. Is that correct?

i downloaded mine from my ableton account page the max 7 version

but did you download an installer or the Max 7 app itself. I downloaded it from the same place but its a program "Max 7", not an installer. And I don't have access to Max for Live devices now.

TCC, did you try it ? Are you still on XP ?
I thought Live 9.2 was only available from Win7, am I wrong ?
You're not wrong. Support for XP (and Vista) has been dropped with 9.2
I just ordered a new laptop from Scan Computers ...

I might give it a try with XP anyway ...
I just tried the installer in XP ... no go. It says I need to update windows to install. Same thing with Max 7 ... unsupported means "won't install anymore". I may go back to Live 8 on this system and install 9 on my shiny new laptop that's coming on Wednesday.

i choose 64 bit in live menu and it download a zip with this file "Max7_x64_150625_cbb83ff.msi" and it installed into program/cycling/max7

i had to go into ableton menu and change the filepath for my max devices to come back

that might be what u need to do

Maybe you need to do a fresh install ...

thanks thecontrolcentre,

I followed the fresh install instructions from the link you sent, removed everything max, restarted my computer, copied Max 7 that I downloaded from my Ableton account (Max 7.04) to Applications (Mac OSX), started Live, changed path to Max 7 app and I still get this error:

"Failed to resolve the link to BrowseLibraryPresets:/Instruments/Max Instrument/...."

Trashing Max's preferences might help (yourname/Library/Application Support/Cycling '74/) - I'd try to close Live, move the Cycling '74 folder to a temp location and restart Live (if it doesn't work out, you can put it back). But I think the problem is not that Max is not working, it's that the devices aren't showing up. What I'd think that would happen if it's a Max problem, is that the devices do show up in the browser, but Live would then indicate that you need to install Max. Still, the devices should be listed.
Have you checked the other file paths? Mine are in my user library. Some odd thing might have happened that that path has changed? Also, it can't hurt to check if the devices are still showing in the Finder in the place where you put them.

To avoid confusion: Windows has an installer, OS X hasn't.
