Ok guys I'm in love with the Diva. She fills my world with analog goodness. Naturally she was the first U-He I'll have.

But now, I have Bazille, Hive, Zebra to choose from. I've only tried playing with Zebra and I did liked it but since I'm on a low budget - which one SHOULD BE MY NEXT ONE ??

Its the most unique sounding and most fun to use. Does stuff none of the others can do. Sounds great.

…and it's digital, a good compliment to the 'analog' sound of Diva.

I'd choose Hive personally. Nothing beats an easy to program synth that sounds great and doesn't kill your CPU

Of course the type of music you are composing/playing will influence that choice.
But since Zebra to me is a must have synth, that's my suggestion without additional input.

Zebra IS pretty f**king good.
I find the GUI really puts me off though for some reason, as shallow as that may sound.

Hive is a bit bland tho, Diva can easily do most of the sounds Hive can, so he has that covered.

If you want a good FM / Phase Distortion synth i would recommend Bazille. It's perfect for recreating all kinds of FM style digital sounds, but it also can pull off some very convincing warm sounds too.

Zebra sort of covers everything, but it uses less resources than Diva or Bazille in general. If you are looking for value for money, then I would get Zebra hands down.

However for lots of stuff Diva and Bazille can really cover a lot of ground.

You would do well to consider a few things before choosing. Are you a programmer or more of a preset user? (no value judgment is implied here, really). What kind of music do you play? Are you looking to expand the synthesis methods available to you, or couldn't you care less about the underlying technique? Are you a keyboarder or a MIDI jockey?

Zebra is a synth for the synth enthusiast. Don't get me wrong - all U-He synths have more presets available than you'll likely ever need (if not included in the installer, there are tons of free banks available online). But Zebra is very, very deep, so if you enjoy programming, get it. Desert island stuff.

Bazille is, in my opinion, more of a specialty synth for those who already have it all. The modular nature of Bazille (and Ace) might not be to your liking - takes a while to get your head around it, but it's well worth it if you do. Nothing will give you that mad-scientist feel more than modulars. Get these when you've grown sick and tired of subtractive synthesis.

Hive is great for WYSIWYG - simple, straight to the point, BIG sound. It screams "pop", but in a good way.

But don't fool yourself - you'll end up getting all of them in the end, anyway.
